LOOK EVERYONE!!!!!!!!Clark Stepp can play college ball but NOT D-1...... He needs to go to Pikeville, Cumberland, or some good NAIA school. He could start maybe 2 or 3 years at a good NAIA school.

 

There are NO PLAYERS in the 14th or 15th Regions that can play in the SEC......sorry!!!!

 

Disagree! Josh Whitaker-Hazard can play in the SEC. Maybe not every school but there are some good fits for him and his abilities in the SEC. It as amazing to me that every year the so called basketball gurus say who can and can't play in certain areas but every year there is a kid or two that graduates from a D-1 school after playing and contributing to those D-1 schools.

There is no way Whitaker is ready to play in the SEC right now. He is just a So. Maybe his sr. year.......................

You are right about him being a Sophmore but you stated that there were no players capable of playing in the SEC. This kid is capable, has the tools, and will play D-1 providing something doesn't happen to jeopardize that. There aren't 2 or 3 kids in KY that are ready to play in the SEC right now, including Miller, Hopson and Mack. There is a difference in capable of playing and ready to play. You stated there are none that can play in the SEC and that is far from correct. I would say we have a least 2 play in the SEC in the next 2 or 3 years from the 14th and 15th.

The way I have heard things is that Clarks dad called UK and asked fo tickets behind the bench of UK. Billy G or no one else has contacted Clark from UK. Georgetown has offered him a full ride to come there though.

Hes not D1 material, he needs to be at Alice Lloyd or some school like that.

It would be a mistake. He is a good HS player, but not major D1 material.

 

He will only sit the bench his entire career if he does make it as a walk on at UK.

 

He should go to a smaller college where he can get to play.

If a kid has an opportunity to walk on at a UK or UofL and sit on the end of the bench, he is far better off than being a starter at an NAIA school. Our two top college programs carry a prestige and name recognition that opens many doors in the real world after graduation. Everyone knows Steve Massielo, Todd Tackett, and a myriad of so called "victory cigars", but you would be hard pressed to find anyone who can name the starting five at Union, Pikeville, Berea, etc.

 

I say if the young man gets a chance, go for it.

Ervin Stepp is his uncle or something like that. He was the top scorer in the nation in my high school days. Maybe it was top scorer in Ky. Anyway, it was something like 50 per game.

So, are you saying that Stepp is as good as Lofton, when they were seniors in High School. And that UK can't would be making a mistake by not signing him?

W/out a doubt, I can't figure this move out by BCG, walk-on or not it's a roster space he could use for a player such as Slone, Edmonson, etc...If this is true I have to question the reasoning of coach Gillespie.

Clark would make a good one to walk on at UK, I think if everyone would get over their jealousy and really take an unbiased look at this kids talents, they would really see a great kid and great ball player. Yes maybe he shot a little too much for his team, but when you are being pushed to do that by parents and coaches, it happens. I think if he would of been on a team where there wasn't other intensions going on, he would of been an even better looking player to everyone. The kid can play and when you surround him with better talented players he will shine even more. Yes Cox is a great player, but no one else on that team will ever do anything else after high school. Unless a deal is made to get Clint on a team where he can shoot the 3 ball.

 

I beg to differ-Garrison Collins JBS 6'9 kid will definitely play at the next level. He has improved greatly over the year and will continue to improve his senior year. IMO, this kid hasn't reached his full potential yet. Both Cox and Clint Stepp will definitely get offers as well. Who cares if it's a NAIA school or a major D1 school-these kids will be getting their college paid for. Let's congratulate them instead of degrading...

You make a good point! I guess it will just be left up to him whether he wants a chance to play or a chance to be remembered.
