Ben Watson currently leads Highlands in points, rebounds and steals (Stephen Kowolonek has missed three games due to injury). He is shooting 57% from the floor and 78% from the line.

Have you seen them play?

Shroder was a solid group and would give most teams in N. Ky. a tough game, Newport included. In particular, they had a 6'8" post player who was difficult to contain. Overall a quick and athletic group.

Birds win a tough physical game on the road. Stephen Kowolnek had a great night scoring 29, Ben Watson had 15 and Jack Stewart 12 (including an impressive put back slam in the second half).

Could Grubbs from Highlands be next up on the ND radar? He is an excellent student and one of the top tackles in Ky.

No one seems sure when George will be back. However, Birds have been playing well w/ both Kowolonek and Grubbs back in lineup.

Zach is a major contributor w/ a strong floor game. His shots have just not fallen the last couple games. Hence, you have not seen his name in the box scores (my guess is he is averaging well over 20 minutes per game on the season).

Excellent D by the Birds after the first qt. Would be interested to see the rebounding stats if anyone has them - seemed as if Birds owned the glass. Stephen Kowo's D on Grant Pangallo did not go unnoticed - both kids played at 100% the entire game. Grubbs vs. Geisler was fun to watch.

I saw Brady play a lot this summer and he has improved tremendously in the last two years. He is a long 6'4, has good hops and range, and can take the ball to the rim when needed. Yes, he will need to improve his strength but he's a late bloomer with a nice upside. I wish him well and will enjoy seeing his progress after the redshirt yr.

Game changed in the 4th due to Birds depth. Also Birds outrebounded the Colonels. Grubbs had 8pts. and 8 rebounds; Watson 12/8.

Who led the Birds in rebounding?

Kevin Gilles has to be on this list somewhere. He had two excellent years on varsity and was co-MVP his senior yr. with Neltner. Easily scored over 750points in his career.

I was impressed with Trinity's defense and rebounding. Plus #31 drained 4 threes.

Impressive win for the Mustangs. East Carter has a solid club.

Great win by Birds. Agree with everything posted so far but just want to comment on what a great team victory it was. Defense and intensity were incredible. Zac had HUGE game. Tyler's presence was big, esp. in first half. But how about some other shout outs: Ben Watson played his guts out, defended Setty in man most the game, and held him to only 2 pts in 4th; Cory Dill played unselfishly (again) and seemed to play every position at times - will do whatever it takes to win; Stephen Gordon had two timely hoops off strong drives in the 4th qt.; and how about Garrett Smith Keller nailing a big 3 late in the 4th! It's a deep senior class!

I thought St. Henry played very hard last night. No problem with the effort. Highlands played with a lot of energy.

High scorers for Highlands were Smith Keller with 18, Kowolonek 16 and Stewart 11. Very unselfish and uptempo game by the Birds.

Key to success this year will be team play.

And congrats to Daniel. He is a first rate kid who will also continue to grow in size and strength over the next few years!

Brady really did have a breakout summer. He scored well and took the ball to the hole with authority. Plus he is a long 6'4" which helps him as a 2. Needs to gain weight and strength but this will happen with time and workouts.

Hats off to Dale and his staff on the greatest victory in Highlands history! I work on the other side of the river and did not meet one person who gave us a chance all week.
