It would have been neat to see him play at Stanford. It's not very often you see a KY boy have an opportunity to play on the West Coast. He is probably one of the biggest players being recruited out of the Midwest...6'7 and over 270lbs. And it's not like he's played OL his whole life. He is a former TE/WR and a basketball player. Who wouldn't want to take a chance at signing this kid?

I heard he accepted the offer today while on an unofficial visit, and will probably take an official visit next week.

The Irish very seldom play a freshman at OL. In Nichols case, I very definitely see him taking the first year to build his body weight and strength to compete as a tackle. I know ND is hoping that he has the athleticism to play at LT protecting the QB's blind side. He also needs to develop a tougher "nasty" disposition, because the guys he will be going against now will be just as big and strong.

To be clear for those who may take your comment the wrong way it seems Tate was looking for a very strong academic school. Its not a case of his academics being poor and scaring teams off.
