Good question, on their website they have all kinds of coaching jobs posted.

South is 12-1 over the last 6 years in the Regional Tourney (Didn't make it in 2015). Also, all three of their regional championships came with them being the runner-up in the district. I'll take the Dragons in this one as well. Whoever wins will have a good chance to advance to the second round at Rupp next week.

He was the coach at Morehead for 4 or 5 years in early 70's. They won a couple OVC regular season championships built with players from Ky.

A coach that many do not know or have forgotten is Bill Harrell. He should be in conversation as one of if not best ever to coach in Ky. Won State Championship at Shelby County, 2 time Ky. Coach of Year, KHSAA Hall of Fame member. Won 3 Indiania State Championsips at Muncie Centrai. 2 time Indiania Coach of the Year and a member of Indiania High School Hall of Fame.

A coaching position is a separate position. In some cases a school may have only one vacant position and the school will try to find a coach that is certified for that position. With so much emphasis on test scores and budget restraints, the day of finding a coach and creating a position for the coach very seldom happens now.

There are 2 Larry Miller's. One, won the state Championship at Simon Kenton and later coached at Meade County. He retired and came back this past year to coach at Bardstown Bethlehem. The other Larry Miller does coach at Louisville Moore. They have both been rumored in jobs or there may just be one Larry Miller looking and the confusion comes with the same name.

Butler was far from Mediocre and Fraley did a great job.

The Holmes job as far as basketball talent, a chance to win the region every year, having the athleticism to compete at the state level when getting to the state tournament, location for family to live and have things to do, possibility of good athlete moving in that takes team to another level, athletic director to work for and compensation, makes Holmes one of the best basketball jobs in the state of Kentucky and many other states. I would think the pool of candidates includes at the very least 25 candidates that have won big at the high school level (possibly state championship) or a college assistant with great resume of coaches they have worked for. The job will attract coaches from other states, Ohio for sure. Total applicants could be over 100 with the national search. Of course some of those would have no chance at getting the job.

Holmes will have a shot at winning the region almost every year. They might not be 1, 2 or 3 but will get mentioned when picking teams that could win it. I am just saying they will have a shot at it.

Wishing David a full and speedy recovery. He has dedicated countless hours for the students in Gallatin County through his work as a school board member and athletic supporter. He is a very special person!!

Stacy May's coaching job at Williamstown was outstanding. His teams were always well prepared, played hard and very competitive. Really did a great job of maximizing their talent and developing their players. Not sure why he is leaving but he will be missed.

It has been said that the KHSAA needs stronger leadership. Tim Moore is a strong leader. This is going to be interesting.

Martha Lane Collins is the name of the new school.

They are both 2 great teams and both fun to watch. I think Shelby Valley has to be the better team if the comparison is this year’s Shelby Valley team and last year’s Elliott County team. Shelby Valley's 2010 team is better than Shelby Valley's 2009 team. They split last year, so it can not even be said that either was better than the other last year. But with this year's Shelby Valley team winning the state tournament I don't think anyone can back up a statement that Elliott was better. Then the state titles being 2 Class A's and 1 State Championship for Shelby Valley and no titles at all for Elliott County gives a huge edge to Shelby Valley. Shelby Valley is a good story and maybe an even better story than Elliott, but by the nucleus of the Elliott team being a year ahead of the Shelby Valley nucleus they were always in Elliott’s shadow until they graduated. I loved to watch both teams and both are going to be a great part of the Kentucky High School Basketball history.

In conversation with one of the ladies at the ice cream stand I said I bet you have made quite a lot of these ice cream cones. She replied that her stand had served over 3,000 total and that all the stands had sold just over 12,000 total as of Friday night.

I thougth the fouls called on them were fouls and there were probably more that could have been called.
