GURU, My source at Conner tells me that Yeagle did not apply for that job. But you and I know that that source was a liar about some other issues, too. Your old football coach told me that Yeagle does NOT want to coach at this point. He is happy at Dayton teaching.

I am sure this happens more than we realize. Sucks for the kids. But let's face it, the D1 recruiting process is a cutthroat business. They might have took it away from that kid because another kid might have backed out of his commitment somewhere else. I knew a kid that was verbally committed to UC a few years back. At the last minute, they pulled out and Purdue (ironically) presented an offer. There was no verbal commitment to the kid from Purdue, just a last minute offer. He is still there. Kids need to keep options open and ask more questions when being recruited. If the kid is a blue chipper, he should ask questions about the other athletes that are being recruited at his position (and where they are planning on going, too). It just makes sense.

Props to you for supporting your coach. This is why the questions were asked. I did not mean to be negative. I was just asking questions. I dont know where he coached prior to Holmes, either. I have heard that he coached college, too, and that is a plus! I wish Conner the best of luck with their program. I am new to the board and not very familiar with northern ky football. From the replies, it sounds like conner fans are fired up to move on with their program. More discussion has been geared towards Yeagle on this thread and that is partly my fault. COngrats to them and their new hire!

I just dont think the time is right for Coach Yeagle to come back to Coaching. If it were, noone would be more qualified. Even if he bombed an interview, his credentials would not be matched. Let's think about it, who would you want for your football program - a guy that has won 7 or 8 state championships or some other coach?

What does Holmes need to do to improve their football program? Are there issues with discipline, participation, eligibility, etc? There has to be athletic kids there and they have had some successful basketball programs, but Holmes has not produced like they should!

I think the enquirer found out first, and then BGP posted the information second hand. The enquirer's BLOG section puts information on the their website as it comes in. BGP is a very well run site and along with the users, is a little more credible than YAPPI.

My opinion is that Rodenburg wants a D1 parochial position but they are hard to come by. By going to CCH, he boosted his resume and credibility with a state championship in just 2 yrs. They pay was poor and reality set in. Going back across the river is much more challenging and he is young enough to do the Roger Bacon gig for a while, coach his son, and then move on to the bigger parochial school when the opportunity presents. Good move for Rodenburg but I feel bad for the CCH community. They just went thru this process 2 yrs ago.

You can choose to believe me or not. This is an opinion board. It is my opinion (thru trusted sources) that he is happy away from football. I am a Yeagle supporter all the way, but he did not apply.

Coach Yeagle is working hard at Dayton and enjoying his time away from football.

It seems that they did not make the right decision. Were there better candidates? I dont know about the dynamics of the school, but from the outside looking in, this could be an excellent opportunity for the right coach. When will he meet the team?

Yeagle will not apply for any job for quite some time. Trust me on that one. As far as Trosper, what has he done at Holmes. Has he ever been over .500 winning percentage? I dont know this guy at all. What does he bring to the Conner Program?

How would another candidate know? Why was the other thread closed? Maybe this is false information? And why would Coach Trosper already hire the Sheriff?

Was it announced? Or are they deciding over the long weekend?

It's so easy to critique on this message board. Maybe u should set up a meeting with Coach Thompson. I am sure he would love your input. I am sure he is capable of implementing any offense he wishes to. But maybe he bases everything off of his personnel. I think you should support your coach. I am trying to support Boone and what they do.

all coaches that i know are great teachers and great motivators. but the coach is also in a position to impact more people than a teacher will ever impact. so on the first interview, i want to know what his PLAN is. if i want to know if he can teach, i will call his principal.

I think the whole "committee" concept is a bunch of garbage. First of all, how does the Math Teacher, a local parent, a local football "expert" and the local mailman know what qualifications are necessary for hiring a head football coach? And I assume that someone was on the committee for some hiring process if you started this thread. Let's face it: all candidates are going to answer the questions and give good responses - telling the committee exactly what it is that they want to hear. In my opinion, the principal and athletic director should go out and SEEK their guy. There is nothing wrong with calling or contacting a coach in the area and inviting him over for a conversation. If that does not work, open up it up to all candidates. I think this is the only question you should ask your potential coach, "All right, coach, you have 30 minutes to prove why you are the man for the job. Tell us about yourself , why you want this job and what you aim to do."

i believe that is what i said. CHALLENGE your OL to get better in the off season. so that you can move the ball with 9 guys in the box. Trust me - any coach that implements something he is NOT comfortable with is NOT going to be successful. It's pretty easy to offer suggestions when your watching the TV from your recliner on sunday or sitting in the bleachers on friday not - but you havent been there! Let the coach coach and support him.

One other comment. Stated above - you cannot "change with times". As a coach, the WORST thing you can do is sit down and watch Florida beat the crap out of OSU and say, "we can run that offense - let's give Urban Meyer a call!" As a coach, you MUST coach what you believe in! Boone Co has their personality and i dont see it changing. trust me, when they line in the spread and start chucking it, you will miss your rushing game.
