Why Tremors? Is this a bad move?

Is Wolfe a teacher ? I think Rodenburg teaches Religion, so is this an issue for the next coach ???? I dont think the Gure stated who the coach was, he asked a question.

So you are going to base your sons education on how many wins the football program has? Beechwood is a great school with or without mike yeagle. they have the community, leadership and tradition to keep it rolling with whoever takes over and they always will have great coaches. Coaches make kids great and kids make coaches great. Yeagle, Barre and Rash are all great coaches.

I hope you are being sarcastic when you say this. You should be sending him there because of the education and environment, along with the athletics. They will be successful regardless of who they hire.

Abdominal work and stretching is definitely NOT emphasized enough in H S.

It is probably not a good idea to condone any supplement on this site. I think its hilarious that someone was doing curls before the games to make their arms look "swole". I hope you put as much thought into your assignments and game prep.

These are great, especialy when u have big guns - and a bobbed wire tattoo really may earn you some all state recognition.

I will also mention that these two factors may prevent some coaches from applying: 1. The names of applicants being blasted all over the papers and message boards. 2. Following a state championship year that loses a ton of seniors and plays a monster schedule next year.

If the Boosters gave the H FB Coach an additional chunk of money, they should do it for all their coaches. I agree that CCH has an elite program, but let's not forget that they have elite programs in basketball, baseball (KYs all time winning coach), golf, soccer, swimming, and the list goes on.... Before you know it, they would be giving tens of thousands of dollars to these coaches and the kids and the programs would suffer! That money is for the kids. Do I think that they should be creative in paying coaches? ABSOLUTELY. I just have a hard time thinking that Bingo Night is going to aid the coaching stipends.

I think that some lifts that football players will help other lifts that they do. Having a strong core (squats, deadlifts, ab work, etc) will help your explosive lifts. In order to enhance your "football specific strength" you must develop your core with addional lifting. ALL lifts in general are also going to give an athlete a stronger frame (muscle structure, tendons, etc) - thus preventing injury.

Agreed! In a football game, how many times is a lineman pressing away from his body with his back against a support system? Never. The ONLY thing a bench press is good for is confidence. "How much you bench?" is the most popular question in any weightroom, and the better your answer, the more impressive it sounds. I could argue the same thing for squats. How often do you put a guy on your shoulders and lift him up and down in a "slow" motion. Dont get me wrong, strength is VERY important, but if a guy concentrated on cleans and explosive power lifts, he will be ready when fall comes along.

Pretty strong comment. People need to realize how their words & actions can hurt them down the road. Rubbing a player, parent, teacher, or administrator the wrong way WILL be remembered. This job has been on the down low for the few weeks it has been open. Have interviews began?

I believe that kids need a BREAK - at least a few weeks after the season. 3 days a week is plenty if you are efficient with that time. The coach doing blocking drills after the season.... no comment!

The kids will be much more disciplined at Conner. I do think HIS philosophy will fit with Conner's program and their good kids. My point above was more of a general comment about adapting to personnel. Conner was very big last year. How many of those lineman will he have coming back.

Why arent these players returning?

Stud, You make some excellent points in the above two posts regarding Coach Trosper, however, I see some contradiction with the big "IF" statement. I agree that Holmes kids may have not put forth the same effort as Trosper. But it sounds like, according to your posts, that Coach implemented two offenses that were not successful - based on his personnel. Implementing the option may have not been the wisest choice of offenses for Holmes. Let me give you a few reasons why? (The offense is a GREAT offense but I do not think it fits with the Holmes program). 1. The offense demands that you have a very INTELLIGENT and DISCIPLINED quarterback to read the defense and make quick decisions in the heat of the play. i.e. should I keep? should I give? should I pitch? What are my reads on each play? 2. The offense demands that you have very INTELLIGENT and DISCIPLINED ofensive lineman. OL must be able to read the DL and excecute first level or second level blocks based on their initial techniques/alignments. 3. The offense demands that you have very INTELLIGENT and DISCIPLINED running backs. On every play, the paths of the FBs are different and those who do not get the ball "must" act as if they are getting it. 4. The offense is not "fun". 5. The offense is "boring" to practice. Colerain makes it work because: 1. They have a great coach how ran it for years. 2. He has ran that offense for 16 yrs at Colerain and struggled with it at first. 3. He has 100 kids on the varsity roster, thus allowing 2-platooning. Holmes has barely half of that and their kids learn offensive and defensive positions. 4. Colerain's middle school program, Little Cards, run it and the kids come into the varsity program ready for it. 5. Colerain is successful year in and year out - so the kids BELIEVE in it. I think you have to implement an offensive and defensive philosophy based on your personnel.

Guys, I want to put this up for discussion once again. The last thread featured "slander" and "yeagle" discussions. Let's discuss the men who are up for this position. 1. Dave Wirth? 3 yrs head coaching expeience (went 7-3 this past year), coached at CCH as an assistant, played at Moeller, may have coached there, college football experience (dont know if he coached or played)? 2. Tony Acito? Coached at several GCL schools along with CCH. Dont know if he has coached anything other than DL in all of his experience. Who else is up for this position? Has it been opened up officially? When will they interview?

Who is their head coach? Did they play a JV season last year?

Why would Yeagle apply? He begain coaching in (I think) 1985 or 1986. This puts him about 20 years in to the KY retirment system. 7 more years to go. Leaving the public schools will hurt his retirement. And CCHs retirement isnt much. So he will be in the public school system. If he was going to coach anywhere, maybe Lloyd would be a more serious choice. Lucas was under his staff for some time and Mike could possibly call him and see what the current situation is like out there at Lloyd. Maybe Lloyd is a good job, maybe not - I seriously dont know. Just throwing another idea out there.

New Cath kids vs. Holmes kids - 2 different types of kids here! Believe me, not every great coach is going to be successful in that environment. Look at the Cincinnati Publics. Why do some of them succeed and others dont? Withrow and Taft have got some "special" coaches who can motivate, relate, and recruit?

These guys are great young coaches - dont get me wrong. But I believe the problem is - can they get along with the CCH administration? Mike Clines runs a tighter ship over there these days. There could be some issues between the Boss and those candidates.

3pter, I understand your point and respect your loyalty to Yeagle. I dont have a bad word to say about the guy. But when you take on a position of head coach, have success like he did, and dissappear - you are going to be scrutinized. He is the Ramsey and Specht on this side of the river and will have his name thrown around when every job comes up. I am sure he does not want to hear or read about this stuff. I doubt he reads this crap anyway.

Easy Cowboy. Who said anything bad? I understand what you are saying, but noone is lying. Opinions are being expressed and in good taste. If anything, people DO WANT coach Yeagle to return. I think everyone respects his coaching, wanders where he is, and when he will take another team to state.
