Why don't these two schools consolidate? Together they could have some nice teams. Apart - they aren't much.

Does anyone else think it's pitiful that Florida travels to KY today and THEY are the ones smart enough to come watch these two very talented prospects. Where is UK? It's a shame how little the UK staff actually gets out and watches the talent right here in the Bluegrass. I'm sure there are some local kids who would shoot better than 2/19 or whatever UK was from the 3pt line tonight. Back to the game. I thought Clark had a good chance in this one. I got to listen to the first half and it sounded like Middleton from Mason was off to a pretty good start. Mason has to have him to make it to the promised land. Clark was up 10 at half and Knowles scored just about every time he touched it in the 2nd quarter. Both these teams need to watch out for Bishop Brossert, but it would be great to see this re-match in the region finals.

Man - that's a tough "bounce back" game. Tip the hat to Coach Humphrey for making the schedule tough enough to prepare the team for March.

Good post. I would add that there are cases where refs should be held accountable for their actions - not just with Mayo. They are accountable to no one but thier own conscious at this time. The assigning administrators are often fortunate to have enough bodies to cover the games. They aren't into evaluating the actual calls (outside of summer referee camps). The video I saw - you can almost see it in the ref's eyes after the first T, "Here's how I'm going to get on ESPN."

They should have put Madison Central in the 12th in the new re-alignment so they could send a team to Rupp that has a chance to advance. (and they would be out of the 11th - no more last second shots in the regional finals against my cards) Where have all the Jimmy John Owens gone in Wayne Co?

They might have the most talented posts in the region with Boyd and Moses. I think they are missing Dunaway's leadership from last year -the loss of Minifield to injury has hurt them too. Before the game they had a nice ceremony to honor former HC coach Childs.

I didn't stick around to pick up a stat sheet tonight... But I was there long enough to post a few observations: 1. Walls was tough again. Knocked down his open jumpers tonight. 2. Mackey came ready to play. Exploded during the first part of the game with several nice shots. 3. Jimmy Warren and Cameron Hundley matched the physical play of Henry Clay. 4. Jordan Lee had at least 6 offensive tip ins tonight. Henry Clay had a tough time blocking out - especially when they played zone. They do go to the offensive boards HARD! 5. Victor Moses is still a stud - they don't utilize his talents nearly enough. 6. Boyd scored quite a few points but got frustrated and spent a lot of the night mouthing off - he even got an intentional foul for throwing Hundley to the floor. 7. College coaches I saw - Georgetown College and Miami of Ohio were there to watch Walls and Moses; Centre College's football staff was there to watch Jimmy Warren - impressive. 8. None of HC's guards were impressive. Bowman made a few nice moves, but had a tough time shooting and made several turnovers. 9. I thought this game would be much tougher for Scott Co. than it was. 10. Scott Co. still isn't peaking - they got very little out of Portwood tonight. If they ever get clicking on all cylinders watch out!

Jimmy Warren made it his personal goal to get up in Mack. He's really been a warrior for the Cards of late. Cameron played hard and got some big rebounds in the second half. I wish Cam could stay the warrior that he is and develop his daddy's jump shot. Ted can still fill it up:thumb:

Scott was bad tonight. I think they've been reading too much BGP hype following the Huntington game during all the snow days they've been having. Henry Clay is always good at home. It might be a "wake up call" for the Cards... but I can't pick against them: Scott Co. 76 Henry Clay 72

They probably will be. Henry Clay lost to Sayre so that throws a wrench in things. The way I understand the agreement is that Scott Co., Henry Clay, and Station agreed to only play Sayre once and have whatever the outcome count as two games in the district seeding. (I bet they change that policy now). Anyway that means Scott Co. and Station will be 1 and 2 unless Scott Co. tanks and loses to Henry Clay tomorrow and Sayre on Saturday.

Big win for Coach Covington and the Creekers - maybe they will hold the ship together this year.

Walls hit some big shots down the stretch. There was an old boy from the mountains that I heard was tougher than just about everybody - Raymond Cox. His son Todd was a great player at Harlan.

The other thread about current players who are tough got some good responses so I thought I'd see who people think the toughest of all time might be. REMEMBER - I'm not looking for points or frills - I want the kids who get every loose ball, dive on the floor, take charges, would run through a wall to win a ball game, etc. Here are a couple of my favorites: Blake Downing - PRP AW Hamilton - Scott Co.

I hope the team isn't reading the headlines this week. USA Today, Dick Vitale has some blog that shames colleges for not recruiting Walls.... Even Scooterbob said some nice things about SC. I hope it's not time for the big letdown (but if we have one I'd rather it be now than in the Regional finals again)

SC started off with Mackey on OJ and Jimmy Warren guarding #11 the PG. After a couple of turnovers and a 5 second call they moved OJ to the point. When they did that Scott Co. started trapping him in the full court. He didn't like it. I think that they were suprised that Scott got up in them and it took until 3minutes to go in the game before they adjusted to the pressure. I don't know if Scott Co. has a zone in their bag of tricks - lots of traps and tough pressure man, but you don't see to much zone from the cards.

Station has a good shot at whipping the Cards. Henry Clay on its home floor is always tough. Sayre beat Henry Clay earlier this year. It's a tough three days for the Cards - if the weather permits all three to be played.

Scotterbob - we are so glad to hear from you on this topic. It's been such a long wait. A few comments to your comments: 1. The game was scheduled to tip at 8pm according to the Scott Co. athletics web page. 4. The JV and Frosh cheerleaders wanted to go to the game but didn't want to pay the $5 so they all decided to cheer. Rah Rah Ray - go cards I would also be willing to bet that Scott Co. also has the largest coaching staff in the state. 6. I agree - Coach Hicks had a great game plan and his pride in Kentucky basketball showed with his enthusiasm. 8. 2 nice comments about Scott Co. :thumb: and you're right - He was impressive. 9. I agree that Huntington probably will win, but just the tone of this statement lets us all know that Scott Co. gained a little of your respect. (and possibly that HHS lost some of it) 11. I'd say the only ones who expect Scott Co. to win in Huntington will be Matt Walls, the other players, and coaching staff - which is why they just might pull it off... See you in Huntington.
