You know, I have watched a replay of the incident that O.J. Mayo will be suspended three games over and over, and each time I scratch my head and think that referee's stumble was an Academy Award winning performance. I thought the referee was looking for something and O.J.'s actions did not merit a suspension. I hate poor sportsmanship and O.J. might be guilty of a little of that, but the official needs to be reprimanded as well, in my opinion.

The rules call for him to have been suspended for the two technical fouls, that is what should have been enfored at the least. Last year Patterson had to sit two games for two technical fouls, one of the games was a playoff game. OJ is just another example of someone getting or trying to get their way all of the time and when something goes against that they cannot deal with it. If he is not taught some discipline soon I hate to think of what kind of trouble he may get into in the future. And enough of calling him a "kid", he is 19 years old and will be 20 before his first college game. He is plenty old enough to know better than to act the way he has been as of late.

I tend to agree wit you on the Ref. taking a dive. It did however appear that they got their feet crossed when O.J. walked up to him. At any rate, to me the bottom line is that a h.s. kid cannot display this type of actions. He defiantely imo deserved the first 'T" and if the official called the 2nd one right or wrong that was the call and the suspension should be upheld. I agree with the decision. JMO

As a person, OJ Mayo is not unlike all other kids. He just happens to be a national figure who will soon become a very rich national figure. He has earned it and I, for one, am proud of what he has accomplished and how he has, in spite of the vultures, handled himself. There is an eight letter word that describes the attitude of many toward him- JEALOUSY.

Once again I humbly submit that he is not a "kid", but a young man who is old enough to vote, get married, serve in the milatary and be responsible in his actions. But to his defense he is surrounded by people who will not correct him and that in turn has given him the impression that just because he is a gifted athlete that he should be given treatment beyond what others get. That is a recipe for disaster, but that is just my opinion and I would assure that I am not jealous of him, I just think that he needs to accept responsiblity for his actions, not try to work his way out of them.

Absolutely NO jealousy here scooter. I wish Mayo the best and I hope that he can live up to his obvious high expectations. Mayo is an amazing talent. It is true that he has been handled by AAU leeches that have/had no interst in him and just wanting to promote themselves. The above poster is correct inthat he is not as "kid", he is however a h.s. athlete so I will not trash a high school basketball player. (bgp rules). I do believe that he is or certainly by now should be responsible for HIS actions and has to realize that bc of his status that he is under the microscope on every move that he makes. This may not be right or fair but it is the truth. I said earlier that I agree with the suspension leveled on him and explained why in an earlier post. I do wish him well, he is an amazing talent but imo if he continues on the road that he has shown so far that nothing good will come of it.

This part of your statement backs up what I am saying and what imo others are trying to say. "If" he is not unlike other kids then he should be subjected to the same penalties as other h.s. players that recieve technicals. "If' O.J. was a normal h.s. basketball player then we would not be hearing all of this talk and it would not be in the news or on espn and there wouldn't be numerous threads on bgp about him and every move and members like all of us wouldn't be posting on it. Good luck to O.J. at the next level and beyond. Again, no jealousy here.
