Henley was contacted by Graves Co. last year when Hatcher left but even though it would be nice for him to get back to West KY where he's from his wife had accepted a very nice teaching position at Walton-Verona and with that in mind it will be hard for him to ever leave NKY because he's not only got to consider his move but a potential job switch for his wife. P.S. I know that he is a true basketball junkie and loves the competition and level of play that the NKY area provides. There is no comparison bewtween NKY area and western KY where he's from.

If he replaces him sooner than later it will be because Henley will step down or move to a better job. Maybe I'm wrong and I'm sorry if I am, but you seem to imply that he might be forced out of his job. To my knowledge Henley is very well liked by the present adminstration (i.e., Principal A.D., Superintendant) and I don't believe he will go anywhere any time soon. Tim is a very good coach and he will get his chance a head job again whether it is with Holmes or somewhere else remains to be seen. Question is if Henley wants to coach at Holmes say another 5 years is Tim willing to wait for that job that long.

He is alive and well playing his usual strong defense and rebounding. He had 3 points against Beechwood. He is not needed to score for Holmes to win. With the Johnson bros., Henderson, Avery (who has improved his game a great deal) and the rest, he's doing what ever is needed for Holmes to win. (DEFEND & REBOUND) :flame:Holmes-D

I could see a really tough game for Holmes on Feb. 7 @ Highlands. It could, unless somebody plays really well against Holmes before then, be the only shot of stopping Holmes from an undeafeated regular season against 9th region competition. The way Holmes seems to playing right now it's going to take a special effort by any team in NK to beat them.

Don't see Henley leaving any time soon. He seems to have the Bulldogs rolling and with alot of talent still in the underclassmen (Johnson bros., Pittman, etc.) why would he?

Just how good do you all think this Holmes team can be? They have really taken some teams to the wood shed lately. They seem to be possibly one the teams to watch for come March with their only loss at this point in the season being to Male by 4 or 5 points (Male seems to be quite a team themselves after winning KOB).

Holmes is quite remarkable in that losing Rice, Hill, and Jefferson they are still probably one of the best 25 teams in the state with the talent they had left after graduation. The same can be said for Cov. Cath. and I would lay odds year in and year out the Ninth region title will go through one of these two. One date to look forward to: Jan. 15

They are infact but there are a few teams like Calloway Co., Murray High, Fulton City (lost to Graves @Graves last week after missing a shot at the buzzer for a win) and Carlisle Co. (lost to Marshall @home) last week, trailed by one with two minutes to go in the game (ended up losing by eleven but really started fouling down the stretch to no avail) to mention a few who could make a late season run along with the big three. First region could be wide open but Paducah Tilghman should turn it on down the stretch to end up at Rupp in March.

Good win for the young dogs. Looks as if Coach Henley has gotten his defense wins games message across to this years squad (look at points given up in the last few games). A big show down looms on the distant horizon on Jan. 15 when the dogs host Cov. Cath. As always with these two teams a definite game to remember!

Graves County's gain is PCC' loss. I'm not from Graves but from a neighboring county and had heard alot of disgruntled fans for the past couple of years saying that they were ready for Hatcher to move on. Yes he was very successful, but there were alot of things going on behind the scenes that they were ready to part with and have a new start. One of the main things I'd heard was Graves fans were bored to death with his style of play and from what I've read on this web site it seems as if some of PCC's fan base may already be feeling the same way.

I talked to one of the Holmes coaches this afternoon and they are very excited about the additions today. This season is getting off to a good start with this group of kids and they are looking forward to see if they can get back to Rupp and try and make it back to Saturday. He stated that this group of kids was alot more coachable this time around with the loss of some difficult attitudes they had to endure in the past few seasons and with these two kids being Holmes kids except for the past couple of seasons they are already well known by their teammates and should be nothing but accepted and welcomed as new team members. It was also stated that Ricardo has a chance to be a very special player before he graduates in three years.

They are from Taft High School. They were originally Holmes kids that moved to live with their uncle while their mother was going through some difficult times. Let's hope for their and sake and their mothers that things are ok now and they can have a stable home environment as all kids need.

They both officially enrolled at Holmes Friday(8/3) the one should be eligible without any problems as he did not play varsity last season, but the other, and better of the two, will have to gain eligibilty with the KHSAA and who knows how they will rule. All be it Scott County seems to be able to get players eligible without any problem. The KHSAA is so fickle with their decisions who knows how they will look at this situation.

They could be the best "TEAM" that I can remember seeing play. They had no outstanding talent in as far as college level talent of the five starters Tyler started for 4yrs, at Transy, Henley played 2yrs. of basketball & baseball @ Southeastern Illinois JC, Hall went to SEMO only to leave after 1 season to come back to Paducah CC, Rambo became an accountant, and York became a Funeral Director/Embalmer. The only reserve that played any college ball was a freshman reserve who never played until the games were never in doubt. All this team was, was simply a bunch of hard nosed kids who bought into their coach's system. each new their roles, and executed their ability to its fullest potiental. A true Kentucky story of small town kids who made the most of their opportunity and were even featured on the cover of USA Today that year. There probably won't be another KY team to win 40 games due to KHSAA restrictions but that was a magical season for the tiny little county of Carlisle.

Calloway Co. (according to WPSD TV in Paducah) has named Calloway Co. Asst. Coach Bruce Lane to replace Terry Birdsong as head coach, who on Monday was named the new coach at Graves Co.

This should rampe up the rivarly between Graves and Marshall a little more. Not as if they needed it but Birdsong (former Mashall Co. Standout) was passed over by his alma mater a couple of years ago for an out of state hire in Gus Gillespe. Grape vine rumor had it that Birdsong was quite upset when he was passed over. One thing I know is that Marshall hates to lose a game, But especially to Graves Co. I'm sure Terry will have no trouble trying to really stick it to Marshall. My personal opinion is that long range Graves got the better of the deal by landing Birdsong with the departue of Hatcher since he was available due to Marshall's wanting to bring in out-of-state hires i.e. Gillespie & their A.D. (both Illinois products). Go Terry!

The word out as of this morning is that Graves is set to announce on Monday that TERRY BIRDSONG will be the next head coach.

There have been several names thrown out there in earlier post. Do you know for sure any names that have actually applied?

Why he truly left is known only to Hatcher. There were some disgruntled fans throughout Graves even with Hatcher's success. The fan base had dwindled from what Graves normally puts out at games. The fans were tired of his slow deliberate pace of his teams games (sound like a bunch of Wildcat fans?). I do work with a former eagle, both he and his brother played for Hatcher and their father was not happy with the way they were treated during their time under Hatcher. The word I'm hearing is that some Graves fans would like to see an outside hire void of any Hatcher disciples.

O'neil does in fact have family ties to Carlisle (it is his alma mater) but with the proximety of Graves and Carlisle to each other he would not even have to move to become the coach at Graves. Another name that keeps coming up is the head girls coach at Graves, Stokes, could possibly want to make the switch back to boys coaching.

With the departure of Hatcher to PCC, who will Graves turn to or who might be interested in the Graves job? The only 1st region coaches I could see that Graves might show some interest in would be Birdsong @ Calloway Co. or O'Neil @ Carlisle Co.. Both are young and have been at the top of list as far as 1st region coaches have gone as far as success.

Alan Hatcher (Graves Co. High School), according to article in today's Mayfield Messenger, has been named the new Coach @ Perry County Central.

Somebody needs to ask the Hazard Radio guys if Holmes was so bad how come Holmes (without Jefferson) went to Hazard and handed Hazard a butt whooping on their home court by 17pts. earlier this year?
