Male 49 Cov Holmes 44

The Bulldogs from Louisville beat the Bulldogs from Covington in the finals of the Western Hills Tournament.

How strong is Male? I am somewhat surprised Holmes couldnt win this game.

Male is 7-1 now.

They beat Cov Holy Cross by 44 biggins.

Their only loss is to Shelby Valley, but SV is really good this year...and that was by a basket.

I'm not sold on Holmes, I think they will struggle some this year.

I think you will see Holmes in the 9th region championship game.

I picked them as my preseason favorite to win the 9th, but after watching them play I don't think they are good as I originally anticipated. This isn't a bad loss really, 5 points to Male, so maybe they have started to play better since I saw them.

If they play as a TEAM without any off-court shenanigans or distractions, keeping their minds on school and basketball, they could go very far.

I think Holy Cross may be the most improved team by end of the year and Holmes will not have it so easy if they draw them in the district. You take Henderson out of the equation and they are an average team IMO.

You take anyone's best player out of the equation in the 9th and they are average.

Agree.

The same could be said for about 90% of basketball teams period.

Not CovCath. I couldn't even think of who the best player would be, probably Maile, and they would still be a great team.

You take one of CCH's top players out and they will struggle some, especially if it is either Maile or Grimes.

Not nearly as much as Holmes, Highlands, Holy Cross etc. would struggle. Either way I am threadjacking.

Anyone have a box score for this game?

CCH may not struggle as much as others, because they have depth, but they have always had superior depth year in and year out for roughly the last decade. It is their strength.

Heyman had 18 for Male...I think he is the football stud.

Male has a lot of size.

Henderson led Holmes with 17.

Holmes really only plays 4 seniors of the 10 they run out there.

Holmes plays in Lloyd's Tournament this week.
