Just ask Coach Henley how bad in 1983 Carlisle Co. wanted it versus Henry Clay I'll guarantee you Henry Clay did not want it any worse than those Carlisle kids but they came up short.

Don't think it will be a calk walk at all but I'm felling that if you listen to Coach Henley of Holmes he stated earlier that any team that is the Sweet Sixteen is a very good team and nobody should be taken lightly. With that being said his quote after their win is that they will now face a buzz saw in Paintsville. So as all sesaon (except the Newport C.C. game) Holmes will not take any team for granted. Coach Henley won't let them.

You want to talk about destiny? Let's try on for size it's the thirty year anniversary of Holmes near championship with a very questionable call preventing that, but more important is Holmes Coach Henley's twenty five year anniversary of a triple overtime loss in the championship to Henry Clay. If destiny is to be step in and rear it's head it looks to me that the two losses can all be washed away for Holmes and Coach Henley with State tourny title. (Not to mention that Rozella Young, the long time score keeper for the Carlisle Co. School(where Henley played ball), is being inducted into the Hall of Fame for her service to the sport of basketball. I know for a fact Coach Henley was one of her favorite players. This all happening in this tourny tells me destiny is on Holmes side.

Holmes has a 6'6 8th grader coming in next year.

I'll I will say is that the team is a two seed in NCAA Tourny.

I know for a fact that he has received mail from a big east school that is a former national champion after his freshman year at Taft. So yea he's being looked at, but lord he's only a sophmore. I wish we could all give these kids time to grow up without all the pressures of recruiting when they are freshmen and sophmores and just let them have fun and play the game without all the hype until they are really ready to look at their education at the next level.

Would it not be sweet times for Coach Henley to go back to the Championship game but instead of the heartbreak he suffered as a player lead his Holems team to the title twenty five years later! I do find it ironic that on the twenty fifth anniversary of that Henley has his chance. Some times things are just destined to be!

Holmes has shown tonight they are the class of the Ninth. 31-2 three wins over Cov. Cath. Newport C.C. must feel pretty good about their win earlier. Good luck at Rupp Coach Henley and the Dawgs!

Holmes won both games this year in overtime when it seemed Cov. Cath. wore down how will the second half progress since both teams played last night?

Or maybe Holmes is just now playing with the sense of urgency they need to make a deep run in the Sweet 16.

Question can Holmes afford to sit their starters after the first quarter? They will have been without a game since district finals on Friday and if you do this (sit them down) are you being fair to your own team who will be another three days before semis. You definitely want to be sharp and not playing game situation does not help this in my opinion. Look for Coach Henley and staff to find a way to get the starters some quality minutes perhaps after getting a managable lead he has the team work on running their offense in sort of a stall situation to melt clock in the event that down the road they face that situation during crunch time of a game. I know Coach Henley he will not want to embarass Bellvue but will want to win comfortably and try and gain something from it for down the road.

I'll take Holmes over Highlands in the finals by 5. Any other predictions?

Highlands did get their best scenario in that McGraw gets a full week of rest before Cov. Cath then gets four days rest before semi's if they advance to semi's. They should be able then to get to finals without extending him in the semi's.

Who do you all like in the Dixie/Conner matchup since the games will be at Conner?

Only if Highlands and Cov. Cath would of met in semi's then the winner would of had to play Holmes the next day after what will be a very physical and mental drain on both teams.

When it comes regional time if I'm Holmes I have to worry if I meet Cov. Cath again because they've taken them to overtime both times this year on Holmes home court, but if i"m Cov. Cath. I'm also worried because they had to shoot a torrid 9 of 15 from three just to get to overtime.

That may be true but the game was at Highlands and if you don't think home court advantage does not make a huge difference just ask Boone Co.
