what heppened at the game I heard one of corbins coaches got kicked out or got into it with somebody?

I really dont think that it is fair to compare a Single A schools schedule to that of South Laurels 04-05 girls team. I am not saying that a weak schedule is good, pineville is not playing a weak schedule, but as a single A school that is surronded by bigger schools every year you can't have these schedules that have 15 or 20 schools that are 3 and 4 A schools. What also doesn't make any sense is that people knock the Class A tournament, and want to say all this negative stuff. If it is so bad then why do all these bigger schools try to get in it every year Example(Corbin, Middlesboro).

Harlan has had the big seasons, but as of late B-ville has been really consistent and is a very solid class A program. How do you think the new Harlan County school will effect the Harlan Independent School and its basketball program?

Williamsburg's Chris Apple has recently signed with The University of the Cumberlands. Chris had a good career at WHS and should continue to improve at the next level. Look for Chris to have an impact at UC in a couple of years.

I am not saying that football is doing anything wrong, i just believe there is a flaw in the system. And you can break the numbers down about when basketball starts and the number of teams in the state being in the playoffs. Well the truth is that every year the same teams make the playoffs. So in other words that schools basketball program is not getting the short end once, but every year.

First of all you cannot compare the district tournament in basketball to the way football does this. For example look at the time that it takes up. Basketballs district tournament can be played down in less than a week. It takes two weeks to play out of the district in football. If you keep this going out into the regional and state tournaments it is just a much slower process because you can only play once a week. Name any other major sports that have this kind of carry over. We are not talking about carrying over to where the kids miss a couple weeks of practice. The way that it currently stands some schools will not have their football players until the basketball team has already played some regualar season games.

With football coming closer to the end, How will your schools Basketball team be affected by the football season and the kids having possibly no basketball practice before they play a game?

I agree with Bubba in that you cannot compare these two kids. Barton has a lot of potential but it remains to be seen if he can help on the Varisty level this year. Williamsburg has some players with some decent Varsity experience returning to their team. Word around Williamsburg is they have worked their butts off this off season and have gained some strength. The Teague kid is said to have grown a little over the off season and is 6'7. Anyone know if this is true?

The Barton kid is said to be moving up to play with the high school. I look to see him playing mostly in the freshman and JV games. I don't think that his eligibility has anything to do with it. Especially since the KHSAA passed a new rule that now says 8th graders fall into the eligibility rule. So basically all 8th graders and above are considered high school. In bartons case it would not matter if he moves up or not. Barton may not be ready to play big minutes in a varsity game but he is for sure in Willamsburg's top 12 or 13 players. By the time the season starts you never know.

If Williamsburg can pull their pieces together and can play as a team they will be competitive. As with many young teams one of the hardest things to do is to pull them together and play as a team. Williamsburg has as a lot of potential. The difference in the potential they have to other schools is Williamsburg's kids are only now getting used to working hard and wanting to earn their spot and respect in the area. It will be a solid year for them. Their size is something that you cannot teach and this will be a mismatch for many teams.

I also heard on the rumor mill that maybe someone from Cumberland College is in the mix.

Any job openings in the 13th Region? I heard Whitley County may be looking for a new Boys Basketball coach. Anybody know anything?

With the 50th District pretty much up for grabs, who will come out on top in the Varsity Doubleheader tonight?

Could be too early to say... But let's see some predictions. Williamsburg/Campbellsville Bath County/Beechwood Danville/Owensboro Catholic Russellville/Louisville Holy Cross How do you think things will play out?

Asbury College picked up an excellent baseball player. I've got the oppurtunity to watch him and this kid is an outstanding ball player. Congratulations and Best of Luck Geoffery.

Williamsburg's defense has improved majorly since last year. This year they have had a few games that have hurt them. (Harlan). If they play to their potential, I agree, they can beat any given team on any given night. They are gritty, quick, and can compete. Their district is their only problem. Trey threw a one-hitter against them, as south went on to run-rule them (11-1). The gritty and quick comes in when that one walk was given up and they moved the runner to third and Will Moses hit that one hit to score the run (Ghantous). I think the outcome might also be different because Witt nor Shelley threw in that first game. Should be an exciting district tournament.

I heard Whitley was up in the first game, and Corbin came from behind. Any truth?

Williamsburg isn't a team that should be looked down on. This was a good night of baseball between the district teams.

South has an average margin of victory this year of 17 points against Corbin. That makes many think South is the Big favorite, but I would watch out for Corbin. Playing at home with three great coaches, who have been known to throw some new things at teams in big games. Maybe this Corbin team, who has grown and matured over the course of this season, didn't show their full package against South in the district tournament. I expect Coach P, West, and J-mack, to have these redounds ready to take on the Cardinals in a Hostile Environment. The advantage on crowd control definitely goes to corbin, South seems to get frustrated really easily when opposing fans and teams are challenging them. It should be a great game.
