Col. Fitzgerald Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 hows the region shaping up this year? any team surprising you?
nomorenoles Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 Williamsburg is a team that can beat anybody on a given night with wins over South and Middlesboro already but must play in the 50th which is a torture chamber.
Col. Fitzgerald Posted April 19, 2007 Author Posted April 19, 2007 Williamsburg can be a force with two pitchers in Shelley and Witt that know how to throw the ball. Its defence that will hurt W'burg in the long run, but seem to be improving on that. Whitley is a team that will surprise you. Even after losing 7 starters last year coach smith has found a way to compete in a tough district
basketballfan1 Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 Williamsburg's defense has improved majorly since last year. This year they have had a few games that have hurt them. (Harlan). If they play to their potential, I agree, they can beat any given team on any given night. They are gritty, quick, and can compete. Their district is their only problem. Trey threw a one-hitter against them, as south went on to run-rule them (11-1). The gritty and quick comes in when that one walk was given up and they moved the runner to third and Will Moses hit that one hit to score the run (Ghantous). I think the outcome might also be different because Witt nor Shelley threw in that first game. Should be an exciting district tournament.
Col. Fitzgerald Posted April 19, 2007 Author Posted April 19, 2007 The entire 50th district is tough. Pitching for every team can be a nightmare to any opposing team. Corbin has Hedrick and Hamblin, South has Smith and Martin, Whitley with McCumbers and Clifford, and Williamsburg with Witt and Shelley. Not too many districts in the 13th shape up like the 50th
LOVETHOSERHOUNDS Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 The entire 50th district is tough. Pitching for every team can be a nightmare to any opposing team. Corbin has Hedrick and Hamblin, South has Smith and Martin, Whitley with McCumbers and Clifford, and Williamsburg with Witt and Shelley. Not too many districts in the 13th shape up like the 50th Campers beating our Hounds as we speak...
kobe24 Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 The hounds came back and ended up winning by a run in extra innings but in other words brandon hedrick came through with a grand slam late in the game that kept the hounds within striking distance.....lynn camp playing with corbin......thats ironic??

Corbin's pitching depth is not where it needs to be. A couple of the younger guys need to step up to the challenge. Good effort from Lynn Camp, probably deserved to win though.
kobe24 Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 Campers didn't play bad....I think Corbin's pitching has pretty depth but they don't always throw strikes....That is the key for a good pitcher, no walks....Both Hamlin kids, Hedrick, Stevens, and the Smith kid are all pitching all right but you can never tell which one will show up...One night they might pitch good but on any other given night they can give up 8 runs, so you never know about these Redhounds....Hope the best for them
nomorenoles Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 Corbin used Hamlin and Hedrick against Whitley in their District games yesterday. The doubleheader format makes it very difficult on 50th district teams in any games they have the remainder of the week. Williamsburg must make tough decisions when they play their All A games and 2 district games on back to back nights. They were saved by rain this year. The Hedrick kid is having a monster year for Corbin.

Great that they came back...had to leave the radio for a few!:ylsuper:
kobe24 Posted April 22, 2007 Posted April 22, 2007 I heard that Corbin struggled down in Glascow this weekend but was able to come out with a win...Good pitching down there and some great homeruns....Even though the fences were only 300 in left and right..small field??
