Whitley was leading by a score of 27-25 at the half, but the Hounds found their game in the third quarter and outscored Whitley 26-4 to lead by 20 at the end of three quarter. The Colonels played well the first half, but still have trouble maintaining it for an entire game.......though I believe it's coming.

 

Josh Crawford played well tonight and really changed the course of the game with his passing and unselfish play while Deke Barley played the 6th man role to perfection by giving Corbin a huge game off the bench.

Whitley was without the services of LeBanion. Not sure why or how long he will be out. I heard for a couple of weeks. That had a huge effect on the final margin of victory for the Hounds. Seemed like Corbin got every loose ball and went to the offensive boards much harder in the second half. Josh Crawford had a monster 3rd quarter with about 6 assists during the big run for the Hounds. Whitley played very physical, lots of handchecking and IMO a few more fouls could have been called, especially off the ball. Whitley won the JV contest by about 20 points though, so things are looking good for the Colonels in the future.

It was by about 14 points . . . don't want to make it worse than it actually was . . . this Whitley JV squad remains undefeated I think.

I don't much emphasis on JV, can never tell if that player will move on to play at the Varsity or transfer, or choose not to play! At anyrate, Lebanion is a hoss, that could explain a whole lot!

I was in Lawson gym last night. I love to attend a ballgame in that gym. It is always hot, loud and I have lots of good friends out there to sit along the rail and chew the fat with.

 

I may venture up to Richmond next weekend and check out some of the All A games.

 

Tonight should be a wild environment for the Hounds as they face the number 1 team in the 13th region, the KC Panthers. I hope I can get there early enough to find a place to park and also a seat. Just word of advice, do not park on the sidewalk near the Root Beer stand unless you want a ticket and have to pay a $20 fine down at Corbin City Hall.lol

In all seriousness, the 13th allows more physical play, and hense we don't teach our kids to move there feet, and then we get up at rupp, and don't understand what basketball is all about. Oh-Well, seems to be the attitude of most officals, and I don't see it changing anytime soon.

I think Whitley played almost all their 9th and 10th graders in the JV game. AKins did not play due to him being in the starting lineup in place of LeBanion. They got some fine looking young players. The JV coach at Whitley did a heck of job as well. I recall him being a WBurg player a few years back. I think his name is Tyler Faulkner.
