americanman Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 Williamsburg-South Laurel split games. Game 1 - South 11, Williamsburg 1 Game 2 - Williamsburg 5, South 3. Great pitching from Smith, Witt, & Shelley.
Jim Schue Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 Who pitched the second game for SL? And I love W'burg's scrappy lineup.
americanman Posted April 18, 2007 Author Posted April 18, 2007 I guess Smith pitched game 1? Yes, Smith pitched the first game. The kid is an excellent pitcher. I don't know who pitched the second game . South used 2 pitchers and they were both good. Both teams played well tonight.
basketballfan1 Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 Williamsburg isn't a team that should be looked down on. This was a good night of baseball between the district teams.
Les Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 The bottom line is that someone is going to have to beat Smith in the 1st round of the district or they're going home. Williamsburg is solid and a team you can't count out.
4chs Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 The bottom line is that someone is going to have to beat Smith in the 1st round of the district or they're going home. Williamsburg is solid and a team you can't count out. You're right that it's vital to avoid South Laurel in the 1st round. The 50th district is very competitive again this year and the current standings look like this: Corbin 3-1 South Laurel 2-2 Williamsburg 1-1 Whitley Co. 0-2
Les Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 If Corbin sweeps Williamsburg, the Hounds have No. 1 seed wrapped up, IF Corbin and South end in a tie ... South wins tiebreaker because of run differential during the two team's games between each other. South also owns tiebreaker over Williamsburg, too.I'm not for sure South can sweep Whitley, though.
nomorenoles Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 50th ditrict is a bear this year. If Corbin is the 1 seed you will be better off being the 4 seed and avoiding Smith in the first round.
Col. Fitzgerald Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 Baseball's a funny sport, anyone can be beat on any given night, you can't count anybody out.
nomorenoles Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 Williamsburg could not throw Witt in one game and Shelley the next because they had to save one for the All A. It probably would not have made a differance with Smith throwing for South but it would have been more interesting.
