Boone bounces back from their OT loss to W. Jessamine to defeat one of the top small school teams in Ohio for the last 3 years running. Trevan Brown comes off the bench to score 16 in the first half and finished with 20. He was a beast on the boards. Gabbard and Popp had 14 and 12 and paced Boone in the second half. Good win for Boone Co. against a very good team away to improve to 9-3.

If Maile is there, so is Steven McFarland.

W. Jessamine hits a couple of free throws with 1-2 seconds left to win. Low scoring game.

Boone plays W. Jessamine again tomorrow. First game a few weeks ago was close.

If they handle the press they will be fine.

Nobody for Boone stood out in this game. All of Boone's players struggled with the press and seemed to panic. I really think that with a different press breaker that Boone would have won this game. They were up 8 early. Seneca's press was the difference in the game, specifically in the third quarter they were outscored 32 to 12. That was the difference in the game.

Boone was up 1 at the half. They tried to break the press by dribbling through it and leaving two big men down the other end of the court or on the sidelines at half court. Didn't work. The middle was open for a pass. Seneca has a good team. Boone won't see that type of pressure again in the regular season. Seneca had 20 turnovers and Boone 25 or 27. Most of Seneca's turnovers were in the half court set. Boone's were in the backcourt trying to dribble through 3-4 guys. Everyone one Boone had several turnovers.

Stats said they had 20 turnovers. Seneca's shots were mostly layups off transition in the second half. Very few outside shots.

Would not have made a big difference, IMO. They could not break Boone's press. Boone could have won this game by 70 if they wanted. Bopne's starters didn't play the last quarter or so. The press was called off in the second half. I saw where Muhlenberg Co. beat Hopkins Co. 90-30 earlier in the season. Hopkins Co. only had one player with any real height too.

True. With an effective pressbreaker, Boone would have won. Seneca did not shoot well and also had a boatload of turnovers. Boone needs to just put this behind them. Good win for Seneca.

Earls, nor any other Boone player was ever at midcourt during the press breaker. 2 of Boone's big men stayed down the other end of the court most of the time next to the basket.

I rarely see Boone shoot threes. They didn't last year either.

Boone was overmatched athletically and looked disorganized trying to break the press. They were also outrebounded handily and had a bunch of shots blocked.

Missing Grubbs probably hurt Highlands a lot in this one. Against that size, if I'm a coach, I'm pounding it into the post.

Is Foster the only transfer they have? He seems to have transformed Newport from a mediocre team to a pretty good team. Newport did not look especially good when I saw them this summer. What kind of size do they have? Holmes and Newport can often benefit from impact transfers more often than other schools in the 9th, I think, because of their demographics.

I would think the score would have been closer, given Highland's depth.

Agree. Corbett is a better team player than the PG from last year. He is a great role player and makes the overall team better than it was last year.

Good win. Makes me think that Holmes should be somewhere around #3 or #4 instead of #1 in KY right now. Trinity is a top 15 team for sure.

They just played very methodically and kept passing around the perimeter and waiting for 3 point attempts. They sat in a 3/2 zone the whole game. In the second half, Boone figured out how to attack it. Very ugly first half.

Does not surprise me. I said at the beginning of the season that Brossart will surprise some people. They play very good defense.

Yes. They pressed more and took advantage of the size mismatch more in the second half.
