If Polson is #10 in the state, then both of Boone's guards (Gabbard/Popp) should also be right there or better, based on yesterday's game between Boone and W. Jessamine. Gabbard had 19, Polson 15, Popp 11 pts and 4 steals. Polson looked solid but not top 10. He struggled with the quickness of Boone's guards and fouled out in OT. Boone had a whole bunch of steals against W. Jessamine's team.

I'd move Clark Co below Ballard. IMO, they would also have trouble with Ballard's overall athleticism.

If I'm not mistaken, he is a sophomore, but only has one more year of eligibility after this year.

Great shooter, but there are others who play better D at this point. He will be able to come in and give Boone a lift offensively.

Boone was led by Gabbard's 19 and Popp's 11. Montgomery chipped in 8. Montgomery, Popp, and Gabbard had a bunch of steals.

Good win for Scott!

Boone played flat in the first half and turned up the D and O in the second. Nice win to go to 3-0. Earls was still hurt and played only about a minute or so. Gabbard played well for Boone. Popp was big in OT for Boone. Cotton was in foul trouble but played good. Montgomery and McQueary also played well. Polson had about 13 (couple of 3s) for W. Jessamine. Not a pretty game and pretty boring in the first half, but pretty interesting in the second.

Who is the transfer?

Pretty weak schedule.

Right now, Schulze is hurt, so I think Cooper could be used to spell Gabbard.

Except for the 9 turnovers, Jackson played well last night, and probably played the best overall of the Scott players.

There will be at least a few players who weren't picked pre-season top 10 that will be there at the end of the season, and certain players picked top 10 won't be there.

Brown and Montgomery both played well. Brown will draw a lot of fouls, and converting a good percentage of those would be a big help to Boone.

Not in it so far. He played JV and did not dress varsity tonight. Zane McQueary did well in the JV game and sat varsity and got in briefly. Josh Burgess also played pretty well in the JV game and sat varsity. Crabtree (6'9") also plays JV and sits varsity.

He did. Popp sat the first quarter of the game and did not start. Montgomery started in his place. Gabbard, Earls, Popp, and Cotton will be usual starters this year, IMO, and Montgomery, Brown, Lay, or Schutze will be the 5th starter, depending on the situation and their play this year. Montgomery had a nice uncontested dunk on a run-out after Gabbard made a good steal at half court and flipped him the ball. I thought Cotton and Popp, played well for Boone, and Montgomery was a solid contributor as well.

I agree he seems more comfortable outside. Boone's coaches seem to be giving him more flexibility this year in that regard. I do think the majority of his points will come 5 feet from the basket.

I agree that Earls' bread and butter should be inside, with his wide body and height. He has a soft shooting touch for a big man, but he doesn't help Boone from the 3-point arc, IMHO. In addition, he doesn't put the ball on the floor well enough to stray too far outside. Boone needs rebounding and inside play from their big men. After all, how many 6'6" post players are on most teams? Since he is more of a catch and shoot player, the post would be an easier location for that type of play. He will be a good contributor this year for Boone. He just had an off game. Boone will need good balance in their scoring. I don't think any one player is going to carry them. I thought this was a hard fought district game, as they should be. Ryle is no pushover.

I also think Montgomery did well. I think he could end up being Boone's 5th starter.

Stauffer wasn't a factor. He had 4 points in the first half. Turned his ankle just before halftime and didn't come back. Scoring leaders for Ryle were Coleman with 19 and McLeash with 11. Leaders for Boone were Cotton with 15 and Popp with 12. Close game the whole way.

Boone by 7 since it is on Ryle's home floor tonight. Also, I think one of their senior starters might be sitting out part of the game.

I think Brossart could surprise some.

Corbett has improved a lot over the last couple of years. Should have a nice season.

Did Cottrill guard Justice? I don't consider Cottrill a good defender.

Defense?

He will definitely be one of the top 8 and will be a contributor. Nice bulky body for rebounding. I think he could start at times for Boone, depending on the opponent/situation and how Lay and Montgomery do. Montgomery and Brown have different strengths.
