92 boys have signed up for Highlands football for 2010 season. 70 boys at winter training yesterday. Collinsworth not playing in Army All American game Saturday due to new pins in his broken thumb. He will be there though. Mueller one of 5 finalists for national coach of the year. Winner will be announced at the game.

Also, a little off topic, but Austin Collinsworth won't be playing in the Army All-American game this Saturday due to recently having pins inserted into his broken thumb. He will be there in uniform. A little off subject, but Highlands had 70 boys attend the first day of winter conditioning yesterday afternoon.

It looks like Louisville Eastern will replace Cincinnati St. X on Highlands' schedule next year. The Birds also have games with Louisville Manual and Cincinnati Withrow, along with two games against Ryle and games against Beechwood, CovCath, Scott, Dixie Heights, Boone.

Not true. Tommy Rohrer, Highlands Class of 1952, played halfback at Notre Dame.

As of 3 p.m. today, Dale Mueller had heard nothing about Notre Dame offering Austin Collinsworth. He was surprised when I brought it up.

Again, for the record, let me state that I interviewed Cincinnati St. Xavier's coach on the field after the Highlands game and asked him to compare Highlands with Louisville St. X and Trinity. He said he wouldn't do that, but went on to say that the big difference between Highlands and the two teams from Louisville was that Highlands was so much quicker and faster on offense and defense, and that his team had no way to counter that kind of speed. Highlands whipped Cincinnati St. X. Cincinnati St. X whipped Louisville St. X and Trinity. End of story.

I should point out that the young man in the first photograph is not Austin. It's his younger brother Jac, a freshman at Highlands. Austin can be seen in the background wearing an Army hat while being interviewed by a television station. Jac is already taller than Austin.

Patrick Towles has excellent speed and he had an absolutely remarkable season. Highlands didn't miss a beat with Patrick at quarterback.

He lives in Fort Thomas and his son is in the seventh grade.

When I interviewed Cincinnati St. X's coach on the field after his team's loss to Highlands, I asked him if he would be willing to compare Highlands with Louisville St. X and Trinity. He said: "I don't want to do that, but I will say that one reason Highlands beat us tonight is because they are much quicker and faster on both sides of the ball than the teams we beat from Louisville." Yes, they do have something in common. They all go to Highlands High School and they all live in Fort Thomas.

Austin Collinsworth of Highlands High School is the winner of the Paul Hornung Award for the Most Outstanding Football Player in Kentucky.

#29, another sophomore, started at outside linebacker against St. X and has played extensively since that game. Can't think of his name.

What about Ross Neltner from Highlands? He had a great high school career and went on to start for Vanderbilt.
