  1. I'm not saying that at all. Is what I'm trying to stress is that parents/players like the hipe or the recognition that they play D1 football. Not necessarly the best fit for the kid. On some of these threads kids are not getting atheletic scholarships but "walk on" or "Preferred walk on". My son was offered a "preferred walk on" spot for Dayton and Duke. The coach explained the differences. A walk on shows up to practice about 2 weeks after the rest of the team and has to earn a spot. A preferred walk on shows up to practice the same time as the rest of the team, does not have to have to try out, and does not receive a scholarship. Can earn a scholly the next yrs. after. Basicly he was real and also mentioned that a preferred walk on is a gratitude gesture saying the kids has talent, could make it, but we'll see. If anyone has more info on this or if I'm wrong, please correct me.
  2. Cody is a better punter then a QB. Although IMO he shows some inconsistency at punting. But when he gets a hold of one.........look out. it's a boomer!
  3. Did former Cincinnati Reds reserve outfielder Tracy Jones' son transfer from Kings to a Northern KY School? I hear he is a great shortstop. He already has more talent then his dad ever had.
  4. I spoke to a source and he mentioned a number of D1 schools that had contacted Jeffrey but not sure of any offers. From what the source said, Jeffrey is interested in a private school for the education although he will play football. Those schools included some good ones. Centre, Ohio Northern, Hanover, Union, Mt. Union, Cumberland, Carroll College, Thomas More to name a few.
  5. Althought some kids/parents want the big head of stating that they/my kid plays at a D1 college. Sure, like I stated before my boy has the opportunity to play bigger, does he want.......no, he likes the small school for the education. He realizes the education is his future.......not football. I/he does not have that ego to pursue a D1 college.
  6. Not to take anything away from Mr. Reardon, congrats!!!! This was anounced last week and Cody is walking on. Not a scholarship. If anyone has heard differently, the floor is yours.
  7. My son has been approached by a number of D1 schools to play football. In some cases just because a kid is playing DIII doesn't mean he's not able or have the ability to play D1. My son has chosen to play DIII simple because of the education. In any college, you go for the education. How many kids go on to play in the pros? Not many......
  8. Word has it that a Holy Cross kid is going to Southern Illinois for football.
  9. Turner started at Holmes in the early early eighties as an asst. coach. He coaches me when I played.
  10. I’ll tell you……at my son’s HS……..the only thing they do is give you a highlight DVD 6 wks after your last game. And maybe talk to a college coach if they come to the school. I have logged many, many, many hours at my computer or on the phone getting my son’s name out. College coaches has called my house (colleges I had not contacted) wanting to speak to my son. Some of the colleges are: Georgetown Hoyas, College of Holy Cross, Duke University, EKU, WKU, Ohio Northern, Findley, Marshall, Hanover, Mt. Union, this is to name a few. Once I received the highlight DVD, I made 30 copies and mailed them out to the colleges that requested them. If my son gets into a college and plays football…..I contribute it to my efforts not the schools. I strongly suggest that if your son or daughter has the grades and is talented in a sport, choose your HS wisely. If I had to do it all over again, We would have choose one with better program, a proven program, coaches who help kids live their dream.
  11. Is this honor well recognized thoughout the state and by colleges?
  12. Does anyone have the list of the players of the year in their respective Division/District?
  13. Does anyone have the link where to find who was named to the NKAC ALL-Star Team?
  14. The Beechies beat both KY Holy Cross teams this yr. Congrats!!!! But I do say Cov. HC gave the Beechies a better game. Good luck to the title game.
  15. Who is Scott's AD and who was AD before the current AD?
  16. This is exactly what I did. My son drafted a letter telling the coaches who he is, stats, height, weight, GPA, ACT, school, and 40. He has received letters back stating that they are impressed with his stats and are interested. He also received some saying they aren't looking to recruit his position. So I am confident that he will land at a good college to continue his student athletic career. Honestly, he perfers the D3 school over the D1/D1A/D1AA. He has visited a few big schools, received call from the D1 coaches, but likes the family type atmosphere of the small school.
  17. Both defenses was attacking the ball causing turnovers. IMO, NCC is the better team. But only from the coaching stand point. NCC QB is better, but from there on, they match up evenly. CONGRATS TO NCC ON A NICE WIN! GOOD LUCK NEXT WEEK!
  18. I know you should never vote with your heart, but, I voted for CCH. Go CCH!
  19. So, has anyone checked out the site above and what do you think? Does Jack speak the truth? Also with all the talk about kids being D1, do you think the kids care about that or is the parents ego talking? How many kids go from D1 to the pros? Without the ego, I know my kids limitations, I know he could play D1. But, I recommend he go to a small college and get the good education and he will continue his student athletic career. For most kids, your not going to college to play sports, your there for the education and not the ego of saying "I played D1 football".
  20. Go to http://www.ncsasports.org and watch Jack Renkens' videos. You will have to go to College Recruiting. He keeps it real. If your getting letter from every college in the US, that means your on a mailing list. My son has got a letter from every college in the country, but phone calls from some of the college coaches. But how much weight does that hold? Not sure. But I guess we'll know in the next few months.
  21. The word on the street is that The College of Holy Cross is not only looking at Luke Stein from Highlands, but also looking at Eric Oldiges and Jeff West from Covington Holy Cross.
  22. I think there are 3 players from Cincy. 2 Sr., 1 Soph. But I could be wrong.
