I read the quote in the Cats pause and that quote was just saying they were going to be competitive and get back to the winning ways and so on. This preseason I have not heard anything in Paris saying that Coach Thompson said anything negative about Mason Co.

Who are the nine guys that run a 4.5 or better. I know that Tavion Fields will not be playing football at Paris this year, so that hurts them some.... Paris looked better the 2nd half on Friday as opposed to the first half. I personally did not see 9 guys who ran a 4.5 or better. Being constructive, I see Paris struggling early on, but by mid-season I think they will be okay.....I could see Paris and Raceland battling for 2nd seed in the district behind LCA..(But I know nothing of Fairview though) Predictions Mason 42 Paris 14

Apparently Fields is taking some summer school to get things right. I hope he does, because he is a gifted athlete. It will be tough for them to finish first. LCA is going to be good. It doesn't matter how bad they want it, they have to carry it over onto the field. In the past they have not been able to do that. Maybe the new coaches can get them to do that, who knows. With any coaching change, the fans need to realize that there is transition time. Everything doesn't start out rosy all the time. But I am no expert, what I just said and 50 cents will buy you a can of pop....

Drove by the field yesterday and saw the boys out running. How many does the new coach have out?

Does he have an assistant coach named Casey Jones or KC Jones? I heard some of the kids saying that he was at the players meeting on Friday and that Jones was going to be the offensive coordinator. They said he used to be an assistant at UK. I have bever heard of the guy. Anybody know him? Also, any word of any other new staff members?

I have heard some of the parents say that they thought he was going to retire from coaching this year and take over the AD job, but they say it looks like he is going one more year...Who knows????

Yes, He is taking over for our AD that is retiring. I know him from making small talk and seeing him at football and basketball games. Seems like a good guy. He said he didn't want to be a head football coach. I have heard some of the parents talking of him becoming head basketball coach when Barr retires. He is from somewhere in Eastern Ky I think. Hazard maybe?

From what I hear through the rumor mill there is no one in house that wants to take it. I was talking to a guy the other night, and the one possible person in house who would have been qualified to take it, is going to be the AD next year, so he is not coaching football at all. (Once again, this is second hand info, just a rumor)

Paris has some athletes there is no doubt about that, but I question their work ethic. The new coach has to find a way to get the guys to go beyond what they are capable of doing. Paris is a good team when they play teams they know they can beat, but as soon as someone smacks them in the mouth, they fold. I have seen them do it the last 2 years. They give up way too easy. It would make the guys that played in the early 80s sick to watch this group fold in the face of adversity. They look for excuses not to succeed -Bold Statement

Some Colleges get rings for just making it to the bowl game, not necessarliy winning it. I know a guy who played for Georgetown, they got a ring when they lsot in the National Championship game. My question is there any team that has ordered rings for losing in the state championship game? I heard of a team a couple of years ago (Shelby Valley I think) that got rings for winning the 15th region championship, and making it to the sweet 16, I don't necessarily see anything wrong with that, it would be like a college team winning their conference and making the NCAA....

Who are some names to consider for this position? A head coach with experience or an up and coming coach...

Isn't his brother the Athletic Director at Montgomery Co.? What kind of changes was he supposedly asked to make?

Boo is going back to school, and he wants to spend more time with his son. You can't blame him for wanting to do that. His leaving has nothing to do with the administration. Now other coaches that have left Paris have left due to administration differences, the differences were the coaches wanted a successful football program and it didn't matter to the administration if there was a successful program or not.
