  1. I agree with the part about playing flat. Last year that seemed to be one of the factors that hurt this team. We would come out firing on all cylinders then coast. EX: Last year we led Ashland 13 - 6 at halftime and came out of halftime like we needed a coffin. There were times that I thought our play selection became a little more conservative last year. If you have a corvette you need to open it wide open and let it run.(Not that last year's O was a corvette) But you understand what I am saying. I was glad to see that after halftime we came out on all cylinders and dominated. That shows me that we have some leadership, character, and it feels like this year Mason plays together like a TEAM. Thanks for the score fix!!!:thumb:
  2. The first 3 quarters were run as game situation with starters. Mason outscores Ashland 26 to 14. 1st Q - Mason-13, Ashland-0 2nd Q - Mason-6, Ashland-14 3rd Q - Mason-7, Ashland-0 Mason County also had about a 30 yard TD run called back in 3rd Q for holding penalty. Let's here some comments on scrimmage or what each team needs to improve on before their openers?????:thumb:
  3. These games have always been good ole knockdown dragouts. How do you think the scrimmage game will be? What does each team need to work on and how will the scrimmage turn out?
  4. On trap, sweep, down, jetsweep there is always a guard pulling or trapping. About the only play that they won't have a guard pulling or trapping is a dive to the fullback. Most coaches even pull guard out on waggle pass.:thumb:
  5. Mason County vs. Paris According to Paris' coach, through the grapevine, his team is going to make an EXAMPLE out of Dave Buchanan's Mason County Royals. That Paris is going to smash Mason County. It is intriguing as coach Buchanan and his father have the most respect and heavy ties to Paris as they coached there. The new coach comes in and makes some bold statements and slaps coach Buchanan and his father in the face?????IMO. Gonna be a grudge match.:fight:
  6. Actually their have been several D-I's recruiting Richie - Cincinnati, Louisville, Kentucky, Duke, UConn, Army,Western Kentucky, Eastern Kentucky. MAC schools and all the Ivy League schools. This year will be a big factor. He did excellent at camps including Ohio State's where some MAC coaches liked him. I mean 6'4" 210, runs a consistent 4.7 forty(ran a 4.56 during testing - check out weightroom record board), benches 355, runs a 4.3 pro shuttle. Plus he is only 16 somebody is going to get him. He'll be at the next level.
  7. Mason County will be at home versus Russell.:thumb:
  8. I guarantee you he has the head. His dad is a coach in Ohio and played at the University of Dayton and then Ohio State. He has been doing presnaps reads and reading coverages since he was having punch and cookies time in grade school. Plus he is a 4.0 student with a 30 on his ACT which he took once. Ask coach B Richie is a student of the game.
  9. What you probably don't realize is that Mason lost their starting receivers and some backups from last year. Cox will be fine once he and the receivers are on the same page. Most of the passes you are probably referring to would be blown routes or just great coverage by an excellent defensive team versus inexperienced receivers. 9 times out of 10 Cox would take off and good luck tackling him one on one. The Royals will be hitting on all cylinders come game #1. It was great to go against a team like highlands in the scrimmage to run with their kids, etc. I'd say we did well at our place and they did well at their place. Good for both teams.
  10. I have very close ties to Booter and I know that he knows we are very proud of what he has accomplished. Booter was a 6th grader when I first met him and coached him and I am proud of his accomplishments on the field and in the classroom. Go OW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! By the way I know Richard and Booter are close friends and are awesome additions for Wesleyan. I wish you both luck and will be in the stands when you play!!!!!! Coach:ylsuper:
  11. Mason County's Richie Cox made the region All-Stars. :ylsuper:
  12. Mason County: Wylie Brace(6'2"/ 265lbs.) : Bench- 360, Squat - 515, 40 - 5.1 Richie Cox(6'4"/210lbs.) : Bench-355, Squat - 505, 40 - 4.56 Jackson Tolle(6'1"/220lbs.) : Bench- 320, Squat -?, 40 - 4.7 The whole team has been bustin in the weightroom.:ylsuper:
  13. I got this from Danny Weddle's Blog: The pairings are set for the 10th Region Baseball Tournament at Montgomery County. Here's the schedule: Monday Bishop Brossart vs. St. Patrick 11 a.m. Harrison County vs. Montgomery County 1:45 p.m. Mason County vs. Scott 4 p.m. Clark County vs. Nicholas County 6:15 p.m. Tuesday upper bracket semi-final 5 p.m. lower bracket semi-final 7:15 p.m. Wednesday championship game 6:30 p.m.
  14. That's a lot of accidents when only 2/3rds of the schools report anyway. We all know that coaches usually don't try to get an edge any way they can. That is why all those heights and weights are 100% accurate in the game programs too. I am sure that there are some newbie or younger coaches that dot the I's and cross all the T's. Not trying to change your mind coach, just telling it like it is where I coach from. By the way any coaches ever get game film from rival schools that are filmed from the stands by, based on the quality of the film, one of the opposing coach's 5 year olds?????Good luck.
  15. College coaches will get it from the Head man. They don't give a hoot about stats. They want to see you on film and then see you at their summer camps.
  16. Same reason you don't see weekly baseball stats.......... gameplanning and tendencies. How many coaches do you know that put in the real heights and weights of players in their game programs? That is why only 144 of 223 schools even filed stats with KHSAA. Coaches know they could be fudged either way. Go to KHSAA and click on 2006 scoreboard and click where it says schools that filed reports under the green pulldown menu. The real stats are in the coach's filing cabinet somewhere unless you break down the film yourself play-by-play like I have for Richie. :sssh:
  17. Do you honestly believe those stats the coaches are supposed to turn in? Half the coaches do not turn them in. The other half are bogus. Again ask Coach B. or I have the game film if you want to break them down. He started 8 and played in 8 and 3 quarters. :thumb:
  18. I'm not sure why he is off radar. His Columbus Nike combine numbers weren't listed because he wasn't happy with his 40 time(scratched), even though his Sparq rating would be a 78.87 which would have been about 10th or 11th in the nation for QB's. His combine scores were Pro Shuttle - 4.31, Verticle - 31.6, Bench - 185 for 25 reps. He usually hits around 4.7 40. But ran a 4.578 and 4.56 last week when the coaches were testing.
  19. He had 6 ints this past year with 7 tds. 3 of his ints came in his first game back from surgery vs. Lafayette last year. Prior to that he sat out his sophomore year as a transfer student. Richie is being recruited for QB or SS by colleges. I won't quote stats for baseball until the season is over but he does have 10 homeruns for Mason this year. He plays CF. He's an athlete.
  20. You might want to recheck your data with Coach Buchanan from Mason County. Richie had a miniscus problem 2 weeks prior to the season. He had surgery rehabbed and started in 8 games. He played 2 quarters the 1st game versus Lafayette and almost pulled out the win. He played 3 quarters versus Montgomery and pulled out the win then started the last 8 games. His stats last year - Passing - 73 of 132 for 980 yards 7TDs, 6 ints / Rushing - 106 rushes for 668 yards 3 TDs. This coming off of a sophomore year in which he was forced to sit as a transfer student. Not to mention he is only 16 years old. Ask anyone in Mason County the numbers are true. :ylsuper:
  21. Richie Cox from Mason County is going to have an awesome year. He is being recruited by several D-I schools (Louisville, Kentucky, Cincinnati, Indiana, Army, Duke, UConn, MAC and IVY league schools and is turning some college coaches heads. He is and absolute freak in the weightroom. Cox is 6'4" 210 lbs. and ran a 4.56 - 40 on the track the other day which was timed by coaches. He benches 355, squats 505, and ran the pro shuttle at the Nike combine in 4.31. The crazy thing is he is only 16 years old. Cox is going to have a breakout year. Remember Mason County stays a AAA school this year. :ylsuper:
  22. Do you think that having Coach Buchanan as the Head Coach plays a bearing on why the assistant coaches stay? Do you think that there is a cohesiveness to the staff because they have taken a program that is down and turned it into a winner?
  23. I hope the KHSAA is consistent. I bought a home in Kentucky and transferred my son his sophomore year and not only was he forced to sit his sophomore year but because I owned more than a couple houses throughout Ohio & Kentucky I was forced to pay tuition and still pay tuition. So I pay property tax for my house in Kentucky which goes to the school AND I pay tuition AND my son lost his sophomore year. I am not trying to be the grim reaper here but this will show me how consistent the KHSAA is with their rulings.
  24. Jeremy Thompson from Mason County will make some noise. He has speed and has been working hard in the weightroom. AAA defenses beware!!!!:ylsuper:
