  1. Was he head coach there? I am not sure if it was his program. I want to say that he was an assistant there but I am not really sure.
  2. Ditto!!! Is there a website or anywhere that we can see a west roster????Thanks for asking Varsity Card
  3. I totally agree!!!! Coach Buchanan should do what is best for him and his family and the people that support Coach Buchanan would continue to support him wholeheartedly. However if a coach has poured his heart and soul into a program and built it up from a losing one into a contender then it would have to be a heck of a step to let it go. If a coach was totally "happy" and had total support why would he look elsewhere??? Coaches like Coach Buchanan don't coach for the money.
  4. First of all let me startoff by saying that if Mason lets Coach Buchanan go they would be losing a lot in their athletic department but even more in the department of caring for young men and being a role model for young athletes. I have had the pleasure of knowing coach for a couple of years and I have seen him take heat repeated times for doing the right thing or supporting players that he coaches. Not just because they are the starters but because he cares about them as young men. You won't find a better coach who not only knows the game but goes all out for his players. He always supports all the other sports and athletes and is a true blue Royal. I can tell you from experience that the man is sincere and true to his word which is that he will do what is right and best for the "team". Coach B has affected more player's lives in a positive way than he knows. I hope and pray that coach will continue to coach our boys in Mason County and that he won't be "leaving". Coach Buchanan is an excellent coach, teacher, and person. Mason County would be foolish to let a coach and person like Coach Buchanan "get away".
  5. I was there and we used the sparqulator on the site to figure out the ratings. They are behind in listing the scores on sparqtraining.com. If you go to football then click the events tab all the combines will pop up and the ones that have a results tab will show all results for that combine. The other combine sites will show the top ten sparq ratings for that combine until they get all results in. Hope that helps.:thumb:
  6. I was at the Columbus Nike Combine with the Mason County players and they all did good. There were a couple of things I didn't like. One was that I only saw a couple of older people who were trainers or coaches running the events. They were mostly kids, and the forty times were all over the place as the day dragged on. Also it didn't mean anything to pre-register for the event. It was a free-for all in that walk ups could go in and test before athletes who were pre-registered. It caused complications. I mean waiting 2 hours in line to test and then down time in between it is hard to get in a flow while testing. Jackson Tolle was a standout at linebacker for mason county with a Sparq Rating of 72.78. Which if you go to the Nike site and check out the rest of the countries participants puts him at about 16th for linebackers out of 14 combines completed. There are 3 more left. Richie Cox who is the QB for Mason County had a Sparq Rating of 77.78 based on QB ratings. If you go to Nike and see the results of the 14 combines that puts him around 4th for QBs so far. With 3 more events left. Good job by all the Royals.:ylsuper:
  7. I know Cox was visiting UK at spring football but is Marinaro ok??? Will he be a go for Monday??????
  8. How about Cox's triple driving in 2 to tie the game and then a bogus call at the plate calling Cox out as the next batter grounds to short and the ump calls the play at the plate like it was a force out situation? I have been watching baseball for many years and have never seen a force out at home(no tag) when there is a guy on third and no one else on base!!! Sorry ump no tag means safe where I come from!!!!! Great fight back Royals!!!!!! By the way it was clutch at the end.:thumb:
  9. Does anybody know where Chris Marshall FB/LB or Richard Wells C/DE that played at Mason County are going???????
  10. I just wondered if anyone has heard about the full rosters for the East-West Senior Bowl in Kentucky?
  11. Royals played well through 5 1/2 innings. Our outfield had some errors that cost us. Bourbon County has a real good team and can hit. Royals need to keep it together and play 7 innings. We have potential we just need to keep playing TOGETHER. That and we need to keep our chins on the ball when we hit. I saw a lot of Mason hitters pulling their heads when they swung. Keep getting better Royals and we'll be alright!!!!!!
  12. I almost forgot Doyle is back. I can't wait to see him play. By the way, lots of class supporting your team last night. Go Royals!!!!!:ylsuper:
  13. This is Bourbons first game of the season. Do we have any score predictions or insights to the game?
  14. The best thing for me personally was to see the comraderie and the Royals playing together. We did have some early season errors but the team just picked up the players who had the errors and kept playing ball. I was also happy to see that the Mason County fans were together rooting for ALL the players. Great job by the pitching staff. I was impressed with both pitchers. Lewis County had some heads up base running and their leadoff guy had some wheels. We got Bourbon County tonight, hope all the Royals fans make the trip.:thumb:
  15. Mason County gurus, who do you think is in the starting lineup today and what is the batting order? Remember this is not a critique on the kids or the coaches it is just a discussion of who MAY BE playing and where they would bat in the lineup. Strictly Royal Friendly Please!
  16. I heard their were two Mason County boys who hit homeruns. If Cox was one who was the other? I hope the hitting starts tonight for the Royals!!!! Can't wait to see baseball again!!! Go Royals!!!!
  17. He's not injured or anything is he??? Sounds like he is a staple for the rotation.
  18. I can't wait for some baseball!!!!!! Does anybody know what the rule is for # of innings pitchers can throw in consecutive days? By the way hello to the Mason County fans!!!! Can't wait to see ya at the ballpark!!!!:ylsuper:
  19. I saw the field the other day, unbelieveable but Coach Buchanan has grass back on the field. Not only can he coach but he must carry around some magic Bermuda Grass seed?????????The last 2 games the field was a mudpit. I don't know about turf?????
  20. If the team comes together, as they have in spring practice watch out. I believe the O-Line only loses one(even though it is hard to reload a player like Richard Wells) and everyone knows the O-Lne is one of the most important components. The other interesting factor will be linebackers. I want to see how the new guys fill in with the Defense losing 3 starting linebackers. (by the way does anybody know where the Marshall kid is going to college?) I also think the running back Thompson will have an awesome year. He has the quickness and moves, I just hope that he has hit the weights hard this off-season so he can run through arm-tackles and one guy won't be able to tackle him. If he has, look out. You also have to remember that Mason has been playing Ashland, Johnson Central, and some AAAA schools. The new AAAAAA brackets are going to help. I agree that if the Royals rise up against the stiff competition in the new alignment, and win against Russell and Boone Co. who knows what next year will be like. :thumb:
  21. If the Cox kid played for Midland in Cincy he is a player. He could replace Browning in CF. But is he a better hitter than Browning????
  22. who is pitching for each team? what were their records, era's etc. last year. I am a newbie on baseball in Kentucky. I will follow Mason County and district 10 though. Who do you think will be starters for Mason County? Who are the big sticks for Mason??????
  23. Coach Buchanan is one of the best high school coaches around and would walk through fire for his players. He teaches his players to be men of moral character and to always stand up for what is right. I have witnessed Coach Buchanan standing up for what is right and the truth many times no matter what the opposition is. Coach Buchanan is affecting the lives of his players by action as well as what he preaches. In this day and age where many educators and coaches abuse their power and use it for there own means Coach Buchanan walks the higher path. Thanks, Coach:thumb:
  24. I was looking for 10th region teams info. I will be following Mason County Baseball and just wanted to see last years stats, who graduated, etc. Thanks for the info and I can't wait for baseball to start!!!! I guess I will start with the sites you guys gave Thanks!!! Play Ball!!!!!!!!!
  25. This will be my first year following Kentucky high school baseball. Where can I find stats for last year on teams. I went to KHSAA but could not find the stats for baseball. Help:confused: Thanks in advance.
