  1. Are you a politician or running for President??????? You still haven't answered the question............... Let me refresh your candidate-like mind- Yes or No......... are your saying that Russell is going to spank Mason County???????????????? :jump:
  2. Cox kid from Mason County is one of the best athletes. He is being recruited by D-1 schools for QB/SS/ATH.
  3. Is that a yes Russell is going to spank Mason County?????
  4. Are you saying that Russell is going to smash Mason County???? If so what are you basing your opinion on?
  5. Do you mean that Coach Buchanan will not play the starters all the way until the last gun to get valuable reps versus Lewis Co.? Sorry I was being sarcastic(inside joke for mcpapa). I look for Lewis to come out and play football like any other football team would. Royals need to stay focused and players need to build on what we have. PLAY EVERY PLAY whistle to whistle while you are in. I KNOW Coach Buchanan and the Royals respect their opponents and Coach B knows when the white flag goes up NOT to go for the jugular. RESPECT your opponent..................Great concept Coach B!!!!! :thumb:
  6. Mason County comes off disappointing 2nd half vs. Boone County and plays their first district game versus Lewis County. How do you see this all important district game turning out? Does the Boone County 2nd half tsunami affect Mason's game?
  7. So, mcpapa, based on Boone county game how do you think Mason will fare in the 3A arena? I mean Central has the schedule from Hades(St.X,Male,Manual) but if you look at top 5, Russell, Belfry, and Paducah Tilman don't play a ranked 6A. So how do you think Mason stacks up versus the top 5 and do you think these games help?
  8. I never said they were required to do anything. Ask anyone who has ever coached football the reality in the coaching world is that there are two kind of coaches........ those that stick the knife in, and those that stick the knife in and turn it. In general coaches who have control of the game and are about to win respond to the other team putting in there JV at the end of the game in one of two ways. Most of the time they respond by acknowledging their win and put their JV in as well. OR they can respond by getting those really helpful needed quality reps you are talking about...... their 1's versus JV or freshman. No problem, Mason knew the game was over and our 1's left it on the field that is why we put in our JV.:thumb:
  9. Had to because our 1's were flat out exhausted. That's what usually happens when you play 14 players versus about 35. I'll give you the 7 with 4 minutes left to get to 35 but when you see Mason go to all JV why the 1's versus Mason JV? It is just a question????
  10. This was the tale of two halves. Royals played the best game of football I have ever seen at Mason in the first half. Shut down #4 and #22 for the half. The Offense had long sustained drives. Then the Boone county tsunami came in the third quarter. Our starting 11 ran out of gas. Hats off to Boone county they are a legit 6A contender and Farris is for real. I do need to comment that the last two scores by Boone county were with 5 minutes left their #1's versus our #2's. (In my 3A eyes that makes it 28 to 20.) I wasn't sure why Boone county left #1's in all the way to the last minute. I guess 28 to 20 doesn't sound as good as 42 to 20. If the Royals keep playing like that first half watch out 3A they are going to make some noise!!!!!!!! :thumb:
  11. I'll add to that MCPAPA. Contain, there is no way to stop, Farris #4. Did anyone see the Hack sports article? I'm sure Farris is looking at this game as a stat padder. Keep the pass out of #22's hands. If he catches the ball we better have 11 guys to the ball because he is a playmaker with speed to burn. I think offensively we need to have west coast extended drives that end in points. This will be a great test for the Royals. Especially our defense. I think it will be #1's on defense all the way. :thumb:
  12. Does anyone know anything about Boone County's Defense?
  13. Little early to say stud, but he does have talent and great vision. I think he needs to develop his play away from the ball(fakes, blocking, route running, etc.) those little things make you a stud AND run well against schools like Boone County, Russell, etc. He definitely has talent but hopefully he understands that how his line performs usually reflects how the back performs. Props to Mason's Oline versus Paris, :thumb: this week is a major test in Boone County......... Hopefully Mason will meet this great challenge!!!
  14. Mason(#5-3A) comes off win over much smaller Paris(A). Boone County(#8-6A) loses a tight one to Scott County(#7-6A). How do you see this one playing out? Can Mason's D contain Farris(20 for 189yds 1 TD) AND Doucette(10 Rec. 116yds 1 TD)??? By the way this one is at Mason County.......Predictions????????
  15. I give props to Paris for a good fight in the game. However the touchdown was scored on Mason when 3 starting D-Lineman, 2 starting LB's, and the starting FS were out of the game. Same with the long pass that got them to our end in the 3rd Quarter. Royals starting D dominated, the offense looked out of sync. Paris was very athletic and our WR's had problems with Paris' secondary. Mason did uncharacteristically line up and play Woody Hayes smash mouth football on offense. Royals taking care of the football with 0 turnovers to 3 for Paris was also big. Having said that Mason better bring there A-game next week because Boone county can flat out play!!!!!!! :thumb:
  16. Wow slanderous is a harsh word. I just asked a question. There are 2 sides to every story.
  17. I have coached high school football in Ohio for 11 years and have watched Kentucky football for the past three years. The difference is that the Ohio players are born and raised around football being #1. MOST of the kids who play high school ball in Ohio, especially on a prestigious high school team, have played since they were 6. By the time they get into high school it is second nature they know the basics. So the level at which the game is taught in high school is at a more advanced level. For example in Kentucky you see a lot of schools play 1 or 2 coverages. In Ohio, you will go to a game and see even a small school team play several coverages and disguise coverages by rolling into another coverage at the snap, play Tampa 2 coverage, zone blitz, play split coverages (1/4-1/4-1/2), Man under etc. The reason it is taught at a more advanced level is because the kids play football from the age of six and football is King. There are great athletes in Kentucky, just like Ohio, it is just taught on a different level.(The Learning Curve). :thumb:
  18. Thanks for clearing that up coach. Should be a great game between 2 class programs. Good luck!!!
  19. I heard through the grapevine that Paris' Coach has been going around town saying that he was going to make an example out of Coach Buchanan's Mason County and that Paris was going to smash Mason County. This is a bold statement considering Coach Buchanan and his father coached at Paris and have nothing but the utmost respect for Paris football. Could this be the new grudge match game for Mason County??? Old school Paris coach versus the new school young brash coach??? Any comments???
  20. An earlier thread stated that Paris had around 9 players running a 4.5 forty. Is that true and if so do the Paris people look for 10-0 season??? Having 9 guys run a 4.5 forty would put you at the top of the list as far as team speed in the state. Does anyone see this many fast players playing a role in the game?
  21. Finally the wait is over!!! What are your predictions and thoughts on how the season opener will turn out???????:ylsuper:
  22. Wylie Brace- All-State Guard, Richie Cox, and Jackson Tolle of Mason County are all D-I prospects.:thumb:
