That is my whole intent. I have boys that participate and put it all out on the line every night. We have to get better for them.

Is that all? Well why we think of that sooner!! Chad's son is less than a year old, and that is a long time!!! The Mumphrey's have left. Oh no, it's more grim than I thought. Yoda, no heat here, I think that is pretty funny.

The starting five really has rotated around this year. Cable, Allen and Hendrick have all gotten starts. Although they are young, those three have a lot of experience and Miller has played Jesse Proctor, Will Yager and DC Craig w/some regularity giving them more experience than it may appear.

I bet there are 12-15 boys that are not really having fun playing basketball this year. I do agree that an aspect of it should be kids being kids and the fun of the game, but as adults aren't we supposed to help them into their greatness and victories.

Here are some statistics from 2005-2006 athletics: Volleyball - 10-16 Football - 3-8 Boys Basketball - 15-15 Girls Basketball - 15-13 Soccer - 1-11-1 Boys Baseball - 6-20 Girls Softball - 2-13 (I do not have statistics for track, cross country, tennis and golf). I do know that we had one stand out golfer last year who went to state, but she has since graduated. So far this year - Volleyball - 19-11 (Coach Lowe is making great strides and improvements in that program. I would say that is one of the fastest growing programs in Carroll County athletics) Football - 3-8 (Lost to Gallatin in their first year of ball and to Trimble - no offense True Blue and Gold) Boys Basketball 5-15 And we all know how great the girls basketball program is doing this year. I want to stress that I am a huge supporter of Carroll County athletics and voice this opinion only out of concern. I don't want any of the kids who participate in sports at Carroll County to view this as a slam against them and their ability. That is what is so baffling, we have the same demographics and, generally, the same level of talent. We are not building solid programs at the younger levels. There is not a lot of community support. Quite frankly, there is no fun and excitement in attending these games anymore. I believe the All "A" Tourney should no longer be the standard in success for these small schools. I believe that is why we don't get respect out of the 31st District. Every year, we used to expect to go to regional tournament and do well, and that was when we played all of the Oldhams. I believe we are settling for mediocrity. I hate to put it all on the coach, espcially given my name, but the level of coaching makes me wonder. Trimble Football is so great because of what their coach has inspired them to do. Gallatin basketball is great because Jones is the best coach no one outside of our district has heard of. Owen basketball is exciting now because Duvall is young and exciting and makes it fun to watch. When was the last time in one season we were beaten by Owen and Gallatin by a combined amount of 80 or more points, and this is with great players on one side of the ball, but Carroll County should not be THAT bad!! I believe that even the Owen and Gallatin faithful would agree. Trimble is struggling in basketball this year, but they are growing. We are completely stagnant. It is sad when a sophomore, who I think is a great kid with a huge amount of heart, leads the team to victory. This is probably the longest post in BGP history, with probably the least amount of interest, but I had to get it off of my chest.

Over the past couple of years, the competitiveness of Carroll County Basketball and athletics, overall, has been on the decline (outside of this years Girl's Basketball Team). If I have done my research correctly, there were very few teams with winning seasons last year, and the trend is continuing this year. Teams that we used to compete with, and even beat, are now decimating us. Asking the Carroll County faithful (and any others), what do you feel is contributing to this decline and what do you feel will help us become a competitive force again?

Carroll really has the talent to put a good team together. I don't blame everything on Coach Miller, but right now, he is not inspiring his boys to follow him into battle. They need to make some serious changes from top to bottom. I think some roles need to be reassigned on the coaching staff and the entire coaching staff needs to be utilized. That is why they are there. The boys need to start trusting the coaches and vice versa. I think that is really the issue. Once that falls into place, they will be much better. This change does not necessarily have to wait until next season. There is plenty of time left. That said, I still think that Gallatin will be in the final game. As for their opponent, I think it is wide open.

Hey steel I believe it was u who once said (let's not get personal). The Hendrick kid is a breath of fresh air. he can't jump over the carrollton phone book but he gets position and rebounds like crazy. Dennis Rodman made millions and is wearing big blinging diamond championship rings being a garbage man. As the ROCK says, "know your role", as Marvin Lewis says "do your job". We all can not be a Nate Edmundson or Daniel Neely blessed with great athleticism. this kid does what it takes to help his team!!! Somebody has to pick the garbage up and take to the curb or your house starts to stink! Your boys Bubba JR are garbage men, and GC would not be the same with out them! Plenty big enough heart, just not enough stature. He is program 5' 10". He has made Owen's other players play @ a different confidence level. Passing, shooting, eyes in the front back and sides of his head to see the floor better than most in the entire state all classes. We in the 8th have benefitted by having to allow the guards in the region something to aspire to. d1 no, D2 or 3 Naia most def. Northern should really make a trip down the road to see this kid. Any NKU alums out there should make a call to your AD.

Very strong field, with a balance in the brackets. UHA out of the top with a determined Gallatin that could suprise. The bottom is loaded with teams that have made multiple trips. Does Somerset finally get the job done or will Bardstown smoke everybody with speed and quickness. Your guess is as good as mine. I believe Mr. Coach Cline down at UHA will prevail, Great EAGLE minds think alike!

Thank you True Blue. It kills me to say those things about my team. I know it can be perceived as not supporting them, but I just cannot abide by all of the excuses that we have been throwing around.

Going to be a great game! Can't wait to see these two go at it. I have not been able to see the previous meetings. I think gallatin will have the edge based on their physical play, but it will not be the cake walk for either team like last night was. Going to go down to the wire. At least we don't have to be cleared out of the gym for this game tonight. Good luck cats.

You know, it has been a tough tough season for the Panthers this year. I understand the frustration, but a lot of those fouls came from frustration. I don't think that we should take anything away from Gallatin. As much as I hate to say it, they were just better, all around. Carroll County needs to regroup on several different levels. We can't keep blaming the officials for our shortcomings. Officiating does not make that much of a difference when the margin of victory is that big. I really wish Carroll County would stop making excuses and try to fix their problem.

Congrats! Wake is doing a nice job recruiting the state of Ky. With 2 other Ky boys there presently and the running back from ballard hs in Louisville leaving last year ! Best wishes and do yourself proud!

Even though Coach Duvall has his boys ready to go tonight, I don't think they can stop the momentum Gallatin has gained over the past month. They are playing excellent ball right now. I think it will be tight game, but depth and momentum will overcome the home court advantage. I pick GC by less than 5.

In the Gallatin Steel Tourney, even though it was a loss for Carroll, they did hold Neeley to his lowest scoring game all year. I believe it was under 10 points. Anything is possible.

A very physical and emotional game. Carroll County's poor free throw shooting cost them the game. Aside from that, both teams played with a huge amount of heart. There were a few mental mistakes by cc that were costly, but all the kids showed an intensity that we have not seen before. If they can clean up their shooting, they might be coming into it.

I'll give home court advantage to Gallatin, but it will be a tough game. Not only is Neely a factor with his own game, but his presence gives the other 4 on the floor a confidence that I have not seen from Owen County in a while.

Coaches for gallatin were at the game salivating to get at both teams. I am sure 12/15/06 could have potential to be a long night for Carroll County. They need to get it together.
