Is Brunner the guy at Nelson Co.?

Any one know of any canidates/names being mentioned? Are they close to hiring?

Every coaching situation makes you a better coach, if you truly want to become a better coach. A lot of coaches like to make excuses, blame others ie.. administration, school, facilities, but the coach knows what they have when they take the job.

I don't see that happening, but talking never hurts!

LOL... Any quality assistants in the area that could be looked at? Do you think they should go outside the area to find another coach like French?

Jaggers has a nice set up at Mercer, i don't see that happening.

Where does Lincoln turn to now that French is the new HC at Boyle. I wish both prorgams continued success.

Its hard to get any sort of continuity on a coaching staff whey you hire real late in the summer and 2 others already turn it down. Maybe Norman wasn't ready to be a head coach, but he tried. I agree the people in West Liberty love football. When Turner won 3 games in his stint as HC, the community were excited, but he left for whatever reasons. When Randy Wood came in with the same conditions at Turner and Norman, he lead the program to its first playoff win in school history. Sometimes people can find all of the excuses for not winning or problems in the program, but if you work hard enough, get the kids to believe and the community support, things will change in due time.

IMO there are several things that can be done for the Lincoln program. When Robbie Lucas took the job, Chris Pardue apparently interviewed for it as well. The job paid I think around 6,600.00 for the Head Coach. I don't know French's salary, but maybe that is an issue. Maybe more teaching jobs for assistant coaches at the high school. A new score board is a possibility. In school weight lifting, and maybe an expansion of the locker room/ weight room combo they have now. Coaches coach for the challenge, which is why the changing of coaches is always happening, year in and year out. I can't blame French for wanting the challenge at Boyle and if he goes, wish him the best. As for Lincoln, either something isn't clicking and or the talent may be running out. No matter what the circumstances, coaches need a strong administration support, community support and time. You can either walk into a program with a winning tradition and talent and compete for a state championship or you can be patient and build because its hard to do it over night. "If you build it, they will come!"

I agree the rivalry didn't step up until Chuck Smith came to Boyle and in 1996 Boyle beat Danville 12-6 I think in the second round, which made it Boyle's first win over Danville since 1979. The emerged Boyle's success while Smith was there and has carried on since. Close games are not a rivalry until its a back and forth with both teams winning one here and there. I will close with this, both programs have produced many talented players and coaches. I'm proud to live in the community where football is so great. :ylsuper:

Yes that is correct. But it would be very rare these days due the rivalry being so much bigger than the 80's and before for a person of the opposite school to be on staff at another.

Look at Jackson County. A second year program with no practice field, no locker room, a weight room that is always having to be cleaned due to staph-infection. The school is really old and the money, well its not there. At least Morgan has a practice field at the high school, a place to put their practice dummies, a game field with bleachers, concessions and somewhat of a broadcast booth. Be thankful for what you have, work harder at what you need, and be grateful when you get it. :thumb:

Boyle does have a Danville alum that played for Coach Harp on staff. Shadon Brown.

For quality help, you need to take care of your assistants or they will not be there for the long haul, rebuilding process or the success that administration, fans, kids, community want. Pay is a big problem with some schools, but sometimes loyalty comes into a factor and pay. Sometimes, quality assistants do not get paid enough but stick it out no matte what. This is not a get rich profession and its all about the love of the game.

I have no clue if this has been said... but the best offense IMHO .. one that scores points.

I agree.. with his frame and ability, if he worked harder he would be a force but Danville is much better without his lack of discipline.

How many applicants are there for this job?

Normans son, who played QB at Rowan/Western was an assistant. Wasn't he only 19? - would make him only able to volunteer. As for the others, who were they? Did they have previous coaching experience?

Apparently Morgan was down in talent this season. Their record was 1-10. They did make the playoffs with the 4 team district. I noticed they got blown out in a lot of their games. I wish the Administration well in finding another coach and hopefully someone who will stick around and be supported.

Didn't Boyle get a pretty decent basketball player a couple of years ago. It don't matter who's the coach, if a kid don't like a certain coach and this and that, they kid may transfer. But the deal is, this must be a move where the child is moving for academics, not solely on athletics if I am correct. (If wrong, correct me someone)
