I agree. I know things happen for coaches to leave jobs for others, but to become a head coach and simply turn it down after two weeks, this man didn't do his research of the move. I'm also glad he left because if he isn't going to be 100% into it as a Head Coach, he shouldn't be there anyway. The kids would have suffered:irked:

I heard a few people talk about this guy, saying he wanted to come in and make a change and a strong one. I am not sure why he decided to stay at Perry Central as Defensive Coordinator. Sometimes you can't walk into a land mine and have things easily, it comes from wanting to work and having the players buy into your philosophy. I hate this for the kids and community of Morgan County. I hope you land a quality person and coach soon.

Witten is i think 7-0 on the mound. he threw 124 pitches in the game again Brossart and was very strong the last two innings throwing around 20-25 pitches.

Wasn't he an assistant at Lexington Catholic girls team before going to Richmond Model boys to Danville boys ? Now he is the head man at Russell Co. girls team.

So does this mean Holland is headed to rival Hazard High School?

I have seen the Morgan County job on the KHSAA website posted. Does this mean they are looking to hire now or waiting on more to apply?

I heard today from a reliable source that the AD at Morgan Co. has narrowed the search/list down to 3. Can anyone give us any information on who this might be?

Congrats to Charles on this accomplishment. I am wondering if he is the only player to sign or go to the next level and play?

I understand why Wood decided to resign. Its hard to be a coach in a different county with a wife and child in another. I wish Wood the best with what he does for the future. My thoughts are how "good" of a job he done at Morgan County. He didn't run the show by himself did he? He had to have some sort of help from his assistants. Are any of those staff interested in the head coaching position? Morgan has to battle a small school dilemma that those kids are 2 and 3 sport kids, which hurts the off season. Good Luck Morgan County and finding a quality replacement and staff!

I could see Ledford getting the upper hand in this job. He has been there since 2002 I believe. He knows the kids, administration and most of all the players. The other names would be quality candidates to interview and to make this job more appealing but those coaches are established where they are unless they are unhappy.

This would be a great job for a young coach or an assistant coach for a few years to get some experience under his belt. What job openings are there in Morgan County?? Is this the problem getting to hire someone or is this job not as appealing as many are trying to make it?

What about Matthew Perry to replace him? Wasn't he up for the job at Johnson Central a couple of years ago? He would be a great hire there.

Were you wrong on your information on Baldwin being the front runner? I am sure Morgan will find someone to replace Wood. You have to remember Wood had 2 "great" seasons before going 2-8 this past year. Expectations at Morgan are not too high but it would be great to see them hire a good coach that can bring an attitude like Wood did and try to be successful.

I'm pretty sure Russell isn't in Morgan County's district no more after last season. They were realigned and Morgan is in there with Bath,Shelby Valley and Prestonsburg. Russell is in with Mason Co, and some others. This would be a great hire. They need to hire someone willing to sacrifrice the move to West Liberty, but Morehead is only about a 30 minute drive. The administration needs to keep upgrading the facilities and supporting not only Basketball, but all athletics at MCHS. Good luck and best wishes to the new coach. :thumb:

I heard that moving back home to Nichlasville, he may rejoin a buddy of his on staff at a nearby Lexington school. I was informed by a guy that would know, but again, this may be hot air thrown at me as well.

There should be some different names mentioned this time around. I hope the administration can continue to support ALL MORGAN COUNTY athletics, and with a new Athletic Director, things should continue to improve. Good Luck in finding a quality replacement for Coach Wood.
