I have a feeling about Friday night that we will see a different Ashland team. I think these boys now realize what is at stake and they will hold nothing back. This team believes in itself as does the community and they will make us proud, win or lose. Great weather is expected for a great football game. I can't wait either, Graybeard.

Marsh was an assistant coach when this was started, but I believe Manley was the head coach if I'm not mistaken for what it's worth.

I believe the flatness that most Ashland posters on here are referring to is a problem that has been with this team for most of the season and was there the last time these two teams met. If the Tomcats come out like they did the last time these teams met then the outcome will resemble the last, if they come out and play with emotion then I think this could be a good game. It will be a big feat for Ashland to not only keep this game close but also to win. But as a Tomcat fan for several decades and in attendance to many Tomcat miracles over the years, I gotta have faith that my team can win.

Ashland has the capability of making this a lot better game than last time. But more heart and determination will be needed by the Tomcats. This is a very, very good Johnson Central team that would give anybody in the state a good ballgame. I believe that if you were to stop Grimm it could cause JC some major problems as they have not faced that this year. As one said: 'JC is one dimensional',in a sense they are although I think that they have not had to do anything else this year as they have been very successful with that part of the game. If Ashland can keep the number of big plays by JC to two or less then they might have a chance in this ballgame. Here's hoping these Ashland seniors leave all they have on the field and play every play with emotion, something we haven't seen for a couple of months.

I think he washed that jacket last month, so he might not had enough time to get the sauce back on it yet.

Well, personally I don't know the financial situation of JC Alumni 76, but if he is in to coal mining or better yet diamond mining, he might be able to afford Friday night. I'm thinking those are going to be some big odds.

Not to mention his own table he carries with him as well.

The defense looked outstanding tonight, maybe it was partly because Cox was out. The offense did look sloppy except I thought when they ran the quick hitters up the middle. Still too many penalties and mistakes, but in the playoffs a win is a win.

:thumb: Hopefully last night won't be the last time Putnam's field is painted this year. This Ashland team has so much potential and very little time to realize it. Tonight is the beginning of the end as we enter the playoffs for 24 of these Ashland players and if they don't show their emotions and come ready to play tonight, it could be the last time they run onto the field at Putnam Stadium. These guys will look back 20 years from now and realize this is the best time of their lives and now's the time for them to leave their heart and soul on the field. If they do that they will have no regrets. As my Dad would always yell for the last 25years at the beginning of every game: GO GET'M TOMCATS !! My only wish would be he could still come and watch his grandson as he finishes his career as an Ashland Tomcat, because he sure was proud of him.

Amen !! They're definitely under the microscope every play. This coming from a dad who's nervous at the start of every offensive play.

The game is Friday night at 7:30. unless, of course, it rains.

And at 6'3 and 340 lbs., he's probably one of the biggest.

I totally agree. I experienced it in my days when it was a lot more common place than it is now, but I understand that it's the nature of the business sometimes.

I agree with what you are saying, but my son has me by nearly 100 pounds and leap years ahead as far as weight training so it does make me wonder sometimes. All of this along with the fact that I don't remember even seeing guys as big as him or some of his buddies on the teams we played against. But like I said I had heart.

WOW !!! What a topic. I will have to agree with Braveheart on this one, Ashland 2006 is much bigger and stronger than Ashland 1981 but I know A-81 had a whole lot more heart than 2006 and most of the time the team with more heart will win.

At first I kind of wondered that also. But after I thought about it, one must realize because of the different formation and players at different positions a team could have some different numbers ( lineman in an eligible postition) and still have a different set of players' numbers than usual downfield for the........punt....or pass in this case.

This game should be another tough one for the Cats, but I think they will hold on for the win 24-21.

Very emotional game for me tonight as I watched and went thru Senior night festivities with my son. Nearly lost it on the way out onto the field but managed to hold it together. This is a really good group of boys who I really enjoyed watching grow up together and was proud to see some JFL Browns alumns have a good game (Burns, McDavid, Cordle and Walters). The game ended just about as I predicted, a 7 point game, so now it's time for the kids to get focused and ready for the playoffs.
