It just happened to be Grizzles turn to pitch in the rotation. I really dont think Coach Hoof was worried about G.C. seeing him in the regular season. Like Oldrambler said, there really isnt alot to hide. These kids have been playing against each other since little league. They know what to expect from each other.

Morehead was at the game tonight watching. Rams play a good game tonight, not their best but a good game. They hit the ball well off 3 differnt Greenup Co. pitchers. Martin,Phillips,Carver,Grizzle, and Deskins all had multiple hits. Grizzle went the full 7 innings for the Rams. As Blue Blazer said, that is 7 in a row for the Rams, looks like they are getting into the "swing" of things at the right time. Keep working hard every day and good things will happen come tourny time. Play at home against East Carter tomorrow at 5:30.

Also the game that the upper classmen did not attend was due to the fact that prom was on that same day. There is no way they could have made the game without missing their senior prom.

Im confused pickoff....are you a Raceland fan? It sounds like you are beating down the Rams and talking poorly about them more than you are building them up and trying to support them....Your statement about Greg Logan being the best coach in the area...wow. While coach Logan is a good coach with a great knowledge of the game, he has yet to prove anything on the varsity level. There is no way you can compare him to the Ben Maynards at Boyd or Coach Vanderhoof at Raceland. Also it sure seems like someone is a little jealous of the Raceland football program. 17 district championships and nearly 30 trips to the state playoffs. Also after an 11-2 season with a district championship, one would think it would not be to wise to make bad comments about the RHS football team and its supporters....I think you need to take into consideration just exactly who's side you are on. If you are for Raceland and wish to support them, then simply post.

Pickoff, why do you think the Rams have won 6 games in a row? It is because the upper classmen have realized their leadership roles and have been getting the guys ready to play every single day. The rams took a big loss when senior Blake Morris was removed from the team and it has taken them a while to get back into the swing of things. But with 6 wins in a row and an 14-6 record, the Rams are finally living up to the pre-season expectations of being a top two or three team in the region. Big game against Greenup monday!

Rams pitched sophomore pitchers Shawn Reynolds and Justin Ross in this game. The Royals did a nice job hitting the baseball off these two young pitchers. The Rams were lead in hitting by Deskins 2-3, Martin 3-5, and Grizzle 3-4. Also Wilson put down a key safety squeeze to win the game. Raceland plays at home tonight against Fairview at 5:30. Rams improved to 13-6 on the season.

Rams hit the ball extremely well in this game. Peyton Martin started off the game with a home run in his first at bat, he would later bunt for a hit and single to right field. He is the man that makes the Rams offense go. I think it is time for him to start being recognized as one of the top players in the region. Only a junior, but he has the complete package. He would be a star for any team in this area. Also Scott Grizzle pitched the complete 5 innings for the Rams. Grizzle threw 69 pitches, 48 of them were strikes, he had 8 K's and 0 walks. Lewis Co. scattered only 3 hits off him. Along with Grizzle and Martin having good games, Phillips, Carver, Keeton, and Deskins all had multiple hits. Nice win for the Rams, that makes it four in a row with Rose Hill coming up this thurs.. 12-6, looks like everyone is starting to get used to thier new roles now that Morris is gone. I knew it would take a few games, but the Rams are putting the pieces together. Keep working hard!!!!!

Rams came out hitting the ball hard and playing sound defense. Matt Phillips did an excellent job pitching for Raceland. He kept the T'Cats off balance all game. I thought that the Rams put together a complete game tonight; fielding,hitting,bunting,base running. They did it all very well. 3 wins in a row (11-6 on the season), looks like the Rams might be turning things on at the right time. Play at Lewis Co. tomorrow at 5:30 pm. Keep focused guys!

I think Raceland assistant coach Scott Floyd would be an excellent replacement for Johnson. Coach Floyd is a hard worker who demands the most out of his players. I really think he is the right man for the job.

Congrats ladies. I know both of you will do an outstanding job at the college level.

Grizzle of Raceland and Dillon of Russell both pitched nice games. Rams out hit the devils 12 hits to 4. Raceland needs to pull things together before district time rolls around. Routine plays are hurting the rams.

The sudden switching of positions is due to the fact that a five year starter at third base is no longer on the team. I think it will take some of these young players some time to get used to varsity ball but by the end of the season the rams will be as tough as anybody in the region. A team with this much talent will not be held down much longer. They need to get back to the basics and regroup after the loss of one of their seniors and they will be right back in the hunt for a regional championship.

Rams just arent playing good ball right now. They are really struggling making routine plays and the pitchers are having trouble finding their spots. Play at home against West Carter tonight. Hopefully they can pull out a win.

The rams just didnt come to play last night. I think they came into this game way over confident. Grizzle was all over the place, the fielders were not making routine plays, and every ball the rams hit fairview found a way to catch it. I think alot of the distractions that were going on this week really got to the rams, they did not look focused for this game. They missed Blake Morris' bat in the lineup also. Hopefully he will be back on the team soon. But dont let this loss fool you, the Rams are a very talented baseball team, they just had one of those nights were nothing goes your way. Congrats to Fairview for the win.

I never said that they werent competing, I said that they werent really reaching back and throwing every pitch as if they would in a regular game. There is no point in taking a chance in wearing out your arm 3 days before a tournament that you have a good chance of winning. And like I said, when Raceland did pitch their aces, the game was a differnt story. I believe the rams were winning after 3 innings. Its funny that those three innings were pitched by Morris, Grizzle, and Phillips.

I know for a fact that Phillips,Grizzle, and Morris were all treating this game as just a glorified practice. All pitchers were basically just trying to get some in-game experience and some pitches in before the Alll A this friday. None of them were really showing thier best stuff and they still looked very good. I never really noticed any of them reaching back and REALLY letting go of a pitch.

Im telling you cville, its a totally different ball game if one of the rams aces are own the mound. Grizzle and Morris both struck out the side in the inning that they pitched. Phillips also did a great job on the mound in the first inning.

Rams started with Phillips in the first, followed by Grizzle in the second, and Morris in the third inning. Wilson pitched the fourth and fifth, Reynolds the sixth and seventh. The Rams basically treated this game as a scrimmage. Coach Vanderhoof wanted several different pitchers to throw in order to be prepared for the All A, which is this friday. Although the Rams did not hit the ball extremely well, if Grizzle, Phillips, or Morris would have pitched this game then the devils would have easily been shut out. It will be interesting to see how different the score is when one of the Rams top pitchers is on the mound the entire game.

First Round matchups feature Raceland vs. Fairview and Meneffe Co. vs. Bath Co.. Elliot Co. and Rose Hill both received first round bi's. The winner of Raceland/Fairview will player Elliot and the winner of Bath and Meneffe with play Rose Hill. My prediction Raceland/Fairview- Raceland 11 Fairview 2 Meneffe Co./Bath Co.- Bath 7 Meneffe 3 Raceland/Elliot Co.- Raceland 15 Elliot 0 Bath Co/ Rose Hill- Bath 10 Rose Hill 6 Raceland/Bath Co.- Raceland 8 Bath Co. 1 Raceland cruises through the Region and moves on to play either Pikeville or Paintsville in the sectional. The Raceland players have received their letters. Beach, Grizzle, and Forrest were the only three invited. I personally think the Rams got the shaft. I would have thought Thompson and Mullins would have also made the team. Im disappointed in whoever chose the players. But congrats to the three who made the team, you all deserve it!

I agree, nice win for the Rams and a great start to a promising season. I dunno about calling them the "BatRams" though??? that just dont work for me..lol. Nice win Rams!!!!
