longtimecoach Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 I think this is the final Heard it on the radio
oldrambler Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 ^ They are definately on a down slide, no question. Hopefully the Ramblers can get things back together before the District and make a run.
MVP_007 Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Rams just arent playing good ball right now. They are really struggling making routine plays and the pitchers are having trouble finding their spots. Play at home against West Carter tonight. Hopefully they can pull out a win.
oldram Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 I just think an old fashion regrouping will help the Rams come out of a slump. On a personal note again I dont believe in telling anyone how to coach and Coach Vanderhoof does an excellent job. I just am not understanding all the switching of positions. At this level trying people out here and there might belong down at JV. Its just an observance. Since I am on a roll there might be some fast outfielding that can come up from JV when the outfielders are pitching. I am not seeing the outfielders hustle on the Varsity level. I love my Rams and it was only observations. A pep talk is in order right now and we need to get back down to basics. Good luck tonight and lets play some true Ram baseball.
MVP_007 Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 The sudden switching of positions is due to the fact that a five year starter at third base is no longer on the team. I think it will take some of these young players some time to get used to varsity ball but by the end of the season the rams will be as tough as anybody in the region. A team with this much talent will not be held down much longer. They need to get back to the basics and regroup after the loss of one of their seniors and they will be right back in the hunt for a regional championship.
MBWC41 Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 All teams go through early season struggles but 3 losses in a row to teams that they should have beat makes you wonder. The margarin of victory is a little scary also. Are the Rams commiting a lot of errors or has the pitching just not brought it's A game yet ? 16 runs, thats a hefty amount. Hopefully the rams can pull it together and make a run during the districts and region. They sure made things interesting last year.

I am sure that losing a 5 yr. starter does hurt but you can't put all your eggs in one basket. With a Senior starter gone from the lineup it is time to move forward and for one of the other Seniors to step up and take over the leadership role. As other have mentioned all teams go through a period that the Rams are experiencing right now. With a little extra work and a positive attitude the Rams will overcome their slump. They have many talented players but everyone has to be on the same page. I am sure that coach Hoof and the experienced Seniors will regroup and make a run for the Championship when district and regional play begins.
oldram Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 I totally agree about the young players but in Coach Vanderhoof's opening talks he explains to the players that they are there to learn and win games. No one is guaranteed a position. Right now there is too much playing players because of their age. It is just an opinion. I think the seniors have more than lived up to their starting positions but the underclassmen might need another look to see if they are really living up to starting potential. I can see Martin,Reynolds,Carver,Wilson,Boyles but then it gets a little merky after that.

This Raceland team has the potential to make a good run in the 16th region but they HAVE to come together as one and from what I can tell and have heard that is not what is going on. JMO

Losing a 5 yr. starter is going to have an impact on anybodys team. Can anyone from Ramland tell us who this player is and the extent of the injury. Is it season ending or serious?
oldram Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 The coach has made no comment to this press and I think we need to honor that. What can be said is there is no injury he is just off the team. It was sudden and I think the boys hasnt had time to rebound from it.

The statement that you made about teams that they should have beaten, I think that you are giving Raceland, too much credit and not giving Greenup enough credit. Greenup has a new coach this year and things are looking good for Greenup this year. Watch out around districts.
