Yes, mr. Gilbert did play against Bell. #38 middle linebacker and fullback. He was in on most all tackles. Bell was penalized 10 times that game at Clay Co. for 95 yards. Clay was penalized once for 5. Bell also had two touchdowns called back that game. But, Clay had one of the better middle school teams we played all year. Bell is 13-0 and playing New Harlan for the CVC championship Saturday. I didn't understand how Whitley beat you though. Bell Middle beat them 30-8. Maybe Mr. Gilbert was out that game, I think we were told he missed that game. Who is in the play offs in your middle school confrence?

Bell's middle school defeated Knox last night 36-0. They had previously beaten them 46-6. Even though coach Mills has breathed new life into the program and is doing a super job, I think it will be a while before he beats Dudley.

They both have played two like opponets. Harlan beat cawood 19-7, middlesboro beat Cawood 46-18. Harlan beat Lynn Camp 21-8, middlesboro beat the campers 48-14. My limited high school math class tells me Middlesboro wins this one by 4 TD'S.

Corbin and Bell county played tonight maybe for the last time in a while. Corbin won the freshman game 16-14, Bell's 8th grade won 50-0, and Corbin won the 7th grade game 24-6. I sure hate to see this series end. Good luck to all the Corbin and Bell young men,maybe you will get to meet again someday.

Pineville beat a very weak Betsy Lane team saturday. Adams is out for the season-broken finger, they have 2 or 3 more players suspended right now. If the same Cumberland team shows up that played Middlesboro in the grid earlier this year. The skins by 4 t.d.s or more

I listened to this game and boy was it a great game. This is exactly why the Bell fans hate to see this annual game between the two end. There have been plenty of these with the Hounds and Bobcats. Maybe not putting the points on the board like last night, but just the opposite of that with great defense with Bell's last win 17-14 in last seconds. Almost a 1000 yards of offense, not to many of those happen anywhere. Especially when two great rivarly teams get together. But, I tend to disagree with your statement about T.R. He would be ready to jump of a cliff if Bell only ran the ball 10 times a game,and threw it 57 times which is what is reported in today's paper. Corbin is very forunate to have the two Pineville boy's, Madon and Cashen, it could have been ugly without there performances. T.R. ran it 10 times in the first half last night for 100 plus yards.

Hang on Boyle co. faithful. I watched your team back in the summer at a passing scrimmage at Bell. Now, by no means am I bashing your team. But, they did not seem as sharp as they were in the past. But, I felt as most of you do, that they still would be a contender. Boyle has some of the richest tradition in the state and they will be back. Hard work and determination seem to take care of those problems, and I know you all know all about hard work. I remember when Dudley left Bell for Bourbon co. for a few years. He was replaced by long time assistant T. Greer. Coach Greer lost his first 5 games before he got his first win. But, he went on to win the district that year.We thought the world was coming to an end when Knox Central beat us. Hang on and weather the storm you will be back-but sure is not any fun while your in the middle of the storm.

Does it really matter? He is getting a free ride to get his college education. Only time and the good man above really knows the outcome of this kid. He definetly has the size,speed,work ethic and I have been told the grades to possibilly make it at Auburn. Besides, he is a great kid. Guys, you need to remember these are 17-18 year old kids you are bashing on here. They are some MOMMY'S baby, and you know what happens when you mess with moma's baby. You better watch out. I saw several kids at Leslie have great games on defense. #3, #8, #63, do I think they can play at Auburn, or for that matter, any other small college? I doubt it, but who can judge off of one game. Just trying to make point here guys.

It is just so hard for the Bell co. bunch to accept that Middlesboro & corbin will no longer play them. From the begining of football time at Middlesboro and Corbin, they owned Bell co. when it came to playing football. They both have such a deep tradition of great football with numerous players going on in the college ranks and some even into the pro's. I remember back 20 years ago when Pineville dropped Bell. The Bell co. nation where beside themselves, for the same reasons as they are today over Corbin and Middlesboro. Yes, Pineville beat them regularly. Not only has Bell lost the local great rivals, they have are losing a great amount of revenue that comes from these games that support their programs. Middlesboro's program will survive because they have their BINGO to support their program and Corbin will survive because of their rich tradition and very active sports boosters, who rank at the top in the state. I think Bell will survive because of Dudley's determination and dedication to the football program at Bell. I saw one of the bell kid's t-shirt last night that I thought said it all about Bell co. football. It said, DON'T HATE US CAUSE YOU AIN'T US!

I shouldn't have said it was history. But, I don't see Bell playing in it anymore.

It was a really good hard fought battle by both of these teams I was really impressed, Middlesboros running back Earls did great so did Madon from Corbin great job by both of these teams.

I was basing my opinon on no one in the confrence playing Bell. I thought I saw where Corbin was not playing anybody in the confrence except Middlesboro and that is a district game. I know that would count though. Clay moving out of the district, so they will probablly only play Evarts, who has been on their schedule the last couple of years.- haven't heard about next year. Harlan & Pineville are both dropping Middlesboro. That would leave them only playing Lynn Camp and Corbin and maybe Cawood Pineville, Harlan & Cumberland would still play each other because they are in the same district.

The final horn has sounded, the fat lady has sung it is officially over. Bell coaches confirmed that Coach Jewell told coach Hilton, this week,that he would no longer play Bell co. A very Sad day for mtn. football but even a sadder day for the SEKC confrence as we have know it for 30 plus years. Why? This was one of the few ways that student athletes got rewarded for their hard work. With the KHSAA realignment and and most of your teams in the SEKC unwilling to play each other, I don't see how it could exist. Maybe some good will come from all of this. As someone in the thread said earlier, everyone will have to make new rivalary's. I understand Bell's 7th, 8th, and freshman play at Corbin thursday. With the two schools not playing any more, will that effect the freshman, J.V. & 7th , 8th graders also in the future? Will these games be cancelled also. Should be some outstanding football thursday at corbin. Bell middle beat Whitley co. 30-8 last night at whitley to go to 10-0. The 7th grade was defeated 14-8, I think. I know they said Bell fumbled inside the 5 yard line late in the fourth, they got the ball back after a saftey, and drove to the five yard line again a whitley held them out of the endzone. One of the Bell coaches said Whitley co. was the best middle school team they had played.

It is my understanding after speaking with some of the Bell faithful that the game with morristown west has been canceled. The move by the KHSAA to move everything back one week has conflicted with the Tenn. schools schedule. Also, I am hearing that the City County Bowl is history. Bell will probably go to either Pikeville's bowl or they are going to Lex.Cath. to play in there bowl that week. Also, heard that Danville was coming to log mtn. also, trying to work with North & South Laurel. Sheldon Clark, Powell Co. Tn., and possibly a week 8 game with Morristown West, they mentioned some other possibilities, but I can't remember them all.

Didn't coach Jewell and coach Greer play together? They may go together and team up on the old men Hilton & Farris.

You may be right I was repeating what one of the parents told me. It should be a great one. I have seen them both play. I heard the Carton kid from Bell went back to Pineville last week. They said he didn't play in the second half of the Bell/Scottco. game. He had some words with one of the coaches. I think Bell won it 56-0 with out him.
