Could It Be The Last Corbin/Bell Matchup?

Featured Replies

Corbin and Bell county played tonight maybe for the last time in a while.

Corbin won the freshman game 16-14, Bell's 8th grade won 50-0, and Corbin won the 7th grade game 24-6. I sure hate to see this series end. Good luck to all the Corbin and Bell young men, maybe you will get to meet again someday.

That would really be a shame. When you think about mountain football, Corbin, Bell, Pikeville, Belfry and Middlesboro are the teams that jump to mind. I hate to see that rivalry end.

Even if the high schools do not play, why would the middle school teams not play each other? The middle school coaches make their own schedules, right?

I've said it once and I'll say it again. Corbin and bell need to play each and every year. We are the Redhounds not the Yellowhounds!!! That will be how people view Corbin, in fact it is already starting.

Let people view us as they may. We need to concentrate on playing football.

I will support Corbin through thick and thin. You know that as much as anyone. From players, coaches, to administration, I will support them. I may not agree with every effort by the players, every decision by the coaches, or every move by the administration, but I support it. However, when you drop a Corbin/Bell game, I can't support that. Corbin vs. Bell is what Mountain football is all about. People from little kids dreamin of playin that game to The old men who sit down each morning drinking coffee and talking Redhound or Bobcat football look to this game every year.

Who cares about the reasoning behind why or why not it's being played. This is a great rivalry and should be played regardless of conflicts, feelings, competition, recruiting, or whatever this problem may be. I have a bad feeling that a lot of people will bail on the program over this. I personally won't bail on the Hounds but dropping the game is not going to bode well for the state of Corbin football which in most minds has already taken a hit.

To make a long story short, Corbin has always strived for nothing but the best. While it's not the dominant program a lot of us Corbin folk make it out to be anymore. It is still viewed as one of the most tradition rich programs in the state. I for one don't want it to be viewed badly or "yellow" as I've heard people call it lately over this. The program is supposed to be love by Corbin, hated by everyone else yet respected by all.

Are you OK with the fact that most of the football community in Kentucky thinks Corbin is scared of Bell County? IM NOT!!!

I care about the pride of this program, and it frankly makes me red hot mad when somone tells me my program is scared of anyone. I defend Corbin with my heart and soul, but this I cannot. Its selfish and childish to drop this game because of all thats occured. Someone needs to think less about themselves, and more about the program as a whole. I think the man who dropped Bell Co. needs to take a lesson from Coach Farris, that man won't back down from anyone for any reason! He has pride!

I don't want people to "view us as they may." Have some Redhound Pride! What should happen is keep Bell County on the schedule, work hard to prepare the kids, go to Log Mountain next fall and put a good 4 quarter whipping on the Bobcats.

This has been a great rivalry ever since I can remember, and I hate to see it go. I know about 15 or 20 years ago most of Redhound Nation considered Bell its biggest rival. Has that faded among the fans or is that still the case?

All teams need a good rivalry. I hope they continue to schedule each other.

I think that most fans consider Bell Co. Corbin's biggest rival, with Middlesboro #2.
