Hey Flash, it was a good game for awhile. Jackson led at half-time by 5 points. Breathitt made some deffensive ( and other) adjustments and out scored Jackson 18-6 in the third quarter. The 4th quarter wasn't much better. Jackson fell apart. Not impressed with Drew. I know he can play but he was weak on both offense and defense tonight.

I'm not a cheermom but I think this cheer goes... 2 bits, 4 bits, etc. "Bit" is an old term referring to money. A "bit" equaling 12.5 cents. So 2 would be a quarter, 4 would be 50 cents and so on. Not trying to offend but thought some cheer leaders out there may pick up the wrong words. If I'm wrong about the words someone feel free to correct me! I'll be backing Jackson but wish the best to both teams.

Wolfe won by 20+. Does anyone have the exact score? I know Wolfe played excellent and shot the lights out! They shot 7 of 10 three pointers in the third quarter.

Especially if your allegiance is to a one of those large schools (or a school which recruits) that has a good chance of winning the championship year in and year out!:ylsuper:

I would support the idea of a class system in basketball. It's easy to manufacture arguments to support the system as it is now, saying such things as " my cousin in Ohio says everyone is unhappy with the class system" or "the kids don't want basketball to be devided by classes" or "it's ruined the sport in every other state" etc. You know the old truism, "95% of all statistics are made up on the spot" probably applies to such arguments! I'd like to see a true survey of highschool ball players, fans, and officials addressing this issue. No matter what trait you look at I'd think you'll find that generally only a certain percentage of the population would possess that trait ( or would possess it to varying degrees). The larger a population is the higher the absolute number of people possessing a trait or traits. It is going to be easier to find 10 good athletes from a population of 500 than a population of 100 (another one of those stats!) A small school will rarely have the ability to compete with larger schools.

The Wolves are playing better but Lee will be out for revenge and they play tough on their home court. It's possible but it would take a HERCULEAN effort for the Wolves to win! Of course I'll root for the Wolves.

Wolfe Co. has improved especially on the defensive end. They played tough zone. Unfortunately, they still have some problems with rebounding, free throws, and taking care of the ball. With better play in these areas the game could have been even closer. D. Evans played a great game. The Wolves were well coached and able to execute their game plan. PCC played excellent defense and were pretty sharp on the offensive end. Despite Wolves defense they got some good looks at the basket. Didn't always shoot really well but they were able to get many second opportunities.

I watched this game. Owsley had a definite size advantage but the Owls seemed disorganized and frustrated. I dont have the stats but they did appear to out rebound the Wolves. Wolfe played good defense, had a good night at the free-throw line and shot the three well. A technical to start the game, a later technical and an intentional foul hurt the Owls.

I believe my prediction was most accurate.

I predict cancellation due to weather! If it's played I hope Wolfe wins. This should be an interesting game. Cameron Dunn played with all the Wolfe kids for years prior to his transfer. Wish Wolfe still had him!

Because "regular students" can refuse to run. What are they going to do if they refuse to run take away their birthday?

I have no comment about whether or not Breathitt ran up the score. What I can say is that Breathitt is a tallented, quick, deep and well coached team! I saw them play a couple of times and they really impressed me. If JBS beats Breathitt then JBS has one H--l of a team.

I'll root for Jackson but having seen both teams I believe Buckhorn will win in a close one.

I'm rooting for Jackson. With home-court and a good game they could pull it off. However, If BOTH teams play well then I would say Leslie has the edge.

I'm a Wolfe fan so I'll pick the Wolves. However, I know nothing about Prestonsburg so I have nothing on which to base a prediction. Can anyone provide any info on Prestonsburg? Thanks

Buckhorn played a very physical game. There were some very hard fouls. Wolfe is capable of playing with this team but unforced turnovers, lack of rebounding and poor shooting hurt the Wolves.

So far this year I've seen Hazard, Lee, Owsley, Garrard, Gallatin, Magoffin, Knott, Wolfe, Riverside, and Jackson City. In my humble opinion Breathitt is the best I've seen. They have talent, height, speed, depth and coaching. They should win their district and, with a bit of luck, advance far into the regionals. Obviously a lot could happen, they will need to continue to improve. I'm sure the other teams in their district and region will get better. If Breathitt doesn't keep pace with the other teams then there are several of them who have a chance to knock Breathitt out of the playoffs.

The wolves haven't won many games this year. They were pumped for the Lee Co. game. Winning that game was almost as exciting for them as winning a tournament game! Unfortunately, that could result in a let-down and they may well come out flat for the Breathitt game. I think Breathitt will probably win the game but I don't think they will win "by as many as they want". Although the Wolves have lost several games they have played some teams close. Owsley beat them but Wolfe pulled to within 5 in the 4th quarter before youth and inexperience let the game get away. They were able to pull to within 3 of Magoffin In the 4th. Again youth and inexperience resulted in a loss. As far as finding someone to score for them, it is true that they don't have a dominant scorer. However, being a more ballanced team isn't necessarily a bad thing. They have been led in scoring by at least 4 (I think 5 but don't have my stats close to hand) different players in different games. For example, B. Campbell scored 25 against Owsley, D. Hays led the scoring against Lee. In several games there were 2, 3, or 4 players in double figures. They do need to to get better production from their inside players but that seems to be improving. So, although I think Breathitt will win, Wolfe could make it close if they can avoid coming out flat, play as a team, play good defense, and get a few breaks. That's a lot to ask, huh?

Early in the season I stated that Jackson City wasn't as good as everyone seemed to think. After the Tigers beat the Wolves several of the posters seemed ready to anoint them as the regional champs. In the Wolfe county game I saw a Jackson team that was erratic, somewhat disorganized, and didn't shoot very well. I felt they would struggle against the better teams in the region and against teams outside the region. I don't think anything has happened to Jackson City. They had problems to begin with. These problems are now being revealed. However, I still think they could pull things together enough to take a first or second in the district and make an appearance in the regionals.
