"Lightning" and "Master of the Hardwood" I read your predictions on the Wolfe Lee game. One of you predicted a Lee win by 15 and the other a Lee win by 20. What are your thoughts on the Wolfe win?

Wolfe was well prepared and well coached. They were playing hard, as always, and their defense was great. They didn't have as many turnovers as usual and every player contributed. The game was close the whole way with neither team being able to pull away by much at any time. Lee county seemed ready to pull ahead at times but Wolfe fought back. Dillon Hayes had a great game for Wolfe and the guys inside (Preston Wilson and Andrew Howard) really stepped up. Lee had a 1 point lead in the last few seconds or so and Wolfe had the ball. Wolfe missed a wide-open shot inside but Brandon Campbell used his quickness to beat the Lee players to the ball and put it back in for 2 points and the win! Lee did get the ball back but couldn't score. The game was played at Wolfe but seemed to be an evenly called game. In the second half Lee had 5-6 fouls called against them and Wolfe had 10 or so against them. I don't know the total fouls called. Lee didn't play a bad game. Maybe they took the game too lightly? I do remember that they made a few mistakes (traveling, etc.) that maybe they wouldn't generally make. This no doubt hurt their chances of a win but only made a difference because Wolfe played well and kept it close!

I attended Alice Lloyd College (where JBS is located). The parents of some of the JBS players (at that time ALC students or faculty) were there at that time. There may also be other connections that even I am not aware of.

In an earlier post I stated that Jackson would probably not do as well once they got outside their district. So far they haven't. Maybe they'll get it together yet.

True, but in Coach Creech's defense they are a verry young team only starting 1 senior,and having to start a freshman and sophomore. I'm sure they will improve, from what i have seen they have gotten better each game. Im sure they will continue to improve as the season goes on!

What exactly makes you think that Kenny Brandenberg is the most underrated player?What has he done this year to prove you right? I can think of many players who imo are better than him.That is not saying that he not is a good leader and a good player,but consider all of the other players in the region. For example, Davidson and Kilburn from jackson city. Stamper from Knott Hicks and Campbell from hazzard Cox and Stepp from jbs Gay from Buckhorn Romans from Powell Congelton from Owsley

A Wolfe win by 2 would be great but unlikely. Hazard is ranked near the top of the region whereas Wolfe is ranked near the bottom of their district and it's a weak district! Wolfe only has 2-3 upper classmen but starts mostly freshmen and sophomores. They are scrappy but very small.

Is this Jackson's first step outside their district? How is Magoffin's team ranked?

I saw the game last night. Wolfe Co. had no inside game ( either offense or defense ) and had numerous turnovers. Many times Jackson got 3 shots and often as many as five or six attempts at the basket on each offensive possession. Wolfe seldom got more than one shot and often none. If they continue to play the way they played last night I'm afraid Jackson's season won't be as good as many of you seem to think. I'm sure they will probably do well in their district, which is both small and somewhat weak this year, but I think they may be in trouble when they step outside the district against stronger and more skilled teams. I guess time will tell! By the way, Wolfe played the majority of the time with mostly inexperienced freshmen and sophomores.

After watching Wolfe play gallatin last night i would have to say that Jackson city will win this one. Wolfe is just going to have a down year.

I Think it will be a great game to watch, but i will have to go with Breathitt by 8

Wolfe co. is a verry young team i am sure we will see what some younger players have to offer for their program this season.

Are you saying that Cody being valedictorian of his class is a done deal? Aren't there other kids at Wolfe county with a 4.0 and a good ACT? Since the last grading period isn't yet complete might not one of them have a better gpa when all is said and done? Maybe i just don't understand the process. Or are you privy to inside info?
