I've never seen it called a T , but I have seen them give them a warning. I watched a players intentially hit the player in the face and the ref told them that they were suppose to aim below the face.

I wouldn't complain with that. I was a supporter of Coach Green during his career of a girls coach. Most people don't remember him or neglect to include him but he helped and was co-headcoach with Coach Turner when they both stepped during the 2005 season and helped Coach Charlie Turner in the Boy's program. He was a familiar face, personal friend and a loyal fan to the boys program that year and I'm sure the years before that. IMO I don't see him coming back to Owsley since he has a higher administration position in Lee Co ,maybe in Lee. Eventhough, I know that he misses the sideline but there are a possibility. IMO

Eventhough I'm not personally a Hazard fan I like this spirit from a fan that doesn't kick their team on a bad year or even a bad game. Gotta love the optimism.:thumb:'s up to you divadawg

I don't see anyone in the system being qualified or interested besides the coaches on the bench at this time. I know there are some potential coaches in the area but I look for an experienced coach to come in and be more than qualified and interested from a near by county. Possibly a past head coach in Coach Turner might find a new passion and stay in the system or an interested parent would be an option but that may be taking a long shot. Not a fact, like I said "IMO".

That makes it rough on the kids and faithful parents when the administration involves politics over best judgment for the kids. Hopefully whoever or whatevere the problem is will turnaround before the end of the season and not be a factor in the years to come.

Good win for Letcher. Looks like Estill wouldn't been that close if Letcher hit their freethrows (7 of 21=33.3%) and still won by 29. Looks like Estill also had an off night in shooting(14-53= less than 30%). I watched Estill play a couple times this year and eventhough the Letcher is a good team I expected the Estill team to compete. Sounds like Letcher was just the better team that night.

Wasn't a pretty night for either team. Not taking away from either teams but both had several turnovers and couldn't get one to fall on the offensive end. Owsley IMO seemed to be the better team just couldn't get anything going and had several oppurtunities but a missed layup or turnover killed the momentum for Owsley . Estill was able to handle the pressure from the Lady owls zone and rotate the ball several times before a turnover occured. Scoring and missed oppurtunities for the Owls ended in a loss tonight.

I agree. The Owls have just been unlucky in finding a coach that is willing to stay either for personal or professional reasons. Dating back to the 2002 season all Owls coaches except maybe one have left due to more personal than administration related reasons. Hopefully that has changed with the hire in Coach Noble. The Lady Owls have not been involved or been victims of this. Coach Bates has been successful since Coach Paul Green left in 2005 to take a higher ranked administration job in Lee County. Coach Green was successful and coached at Owsley since the late 90's so it has been 10+ years and the girls just went through two coaches. The Lady Owls will bounce back quick and reload and refresh throughout this season and the next seasons to come. IMO the Lady Owls will have to look out of the county to find their next head coach unless one of the assistants on the bench are starting to enjoy the sideline a little more or missing it;). The Lady Owls should find some takers because there are a nice bunch of young and more experienced than most middle school level players that should help any coach's choice in coming and staying around for the next 5 years.

Big win for June B.. Well deserved and congratulations to Cox for the MVP from this side of the region.

Coach Cornett, Mason and Charlie Turner and statistician Mike Turner(which played under a successful Charlie Turner team in the 80's) will be sitting on the bench the rest of the season. Coach Cornett and Mason have been helping the entire season and being a fan as Coach Turner will be assisting them as he did the boys back in 2005 and turned out to be successful then as well. Coach Bates left both the coaching job and teaching job on his own for personal and professional reasons. Being able to spend more time with his family and a more suited working atmosphere was preferred by Coach Bates. I predict that the administration was surprised and upset that Coach Bates left in the middle of the school season and especially the basketball season as well.

This game was extremely rough. IMO is wasn't a terrible called game but there were some no calls on Owsley's end that should of been called and seemed that Estill got the benifit of the doubt under their basket while going up for the shot. Owsley at one time got 3 offensive rebounds in a row and bodies were flying but no whistles were blowing. Owsley was down 20 at half but only lost by 23. They seemed to dig down and fight back a little 2nd half and thats when it got rough. There were some elbows thrown to try to get free after getting a rebound or handling the ball up top since no calls were the only calls for Owsley most of the time. Estill is a good team and I'm not saying anyone took it but the home court advantage rule went into affect.

Amen, Powell is extremely hard to beat at home and Coach Lively will make sure of that. Owsley will have a better chance with Estill since its at Powell. Goodluck badcat.
