  1. They have a very good chance to win this tournament. Courier Journal had them 3rd....I saw South Laurel today, who is #1 going in by many, and the Colonels are right with them...they can defintely beat anybody in this thing...just gotta play!
  2. The Colonels are favored...heavily, by some. Apollo can beat them...you know anybody can beat anybody. I think their tallest player is 6 2, but apparently they have some very good guards. They play very good defense and like a slower game. If the Colonels play their game, this shouldn't be real close...

  4. I trust you have been conducting team meetings in preparation for the Sweet 16? Class of 04 set the bar pretty high...all of us (fans not class of 04), expect that same witty, creativity...quick and clever chants...and lots of energy!! Go Colonels!
  5. Especially at Rupp! But I do think we need to make a distinction between a team that shoots a lot of/ and relies heavily on the three vs a team that compliments their offense with the ability to shoot them well. The latter is tough to guard and does not lose 95% of the time...
  6. I am sure there is a lot we don't about this ? ...and I know nothing... It sounds like one of the refs may not be completely impartial? Isn't the assignment offical accountable for allowing this to proceed if there where any question about the officiating team's standing? I missed this whole thing...what happened?
  7. CCH administrator told me they had and average of 75% of their total student body attend the regional games....don't know what my point is? Just thought that was interesting...no matter how big or small a school...that's a large percentage
  8. my last comment didn't show up? That was not a criticism of L....at all..
  9. I agree with you on that...they play defense like a team that wants it low...but they would gladly go 80+ offensively. They just don't let the game open enough to go that high...Coach L doesn't have the stomach to let it fly...(
  10. Okay guys....enough of mine's bigger than yours. Both schools showed great spirit...The Breds showed some great creativity and healthy sportsmanship in a situation where they weren't given a lot to get excited about. The fake tv camera, and the "we want a cup cake" in response to "we want some competition" was very good.
  11. No opinion on the Apollo match up has I am unfamiliar with them. Simply disagree with the low scoring game view for CCH. They do not favor a low scoring game...?. They press from start to finish...they push the ball, shoot the three out of transition with confidence, they jump the ball and trap constantly...they push the tempo for 32 minutes...
  12. I don't quite understand the fascination with whether or not this is 'officialy' defined as a rivalry. Both programs acknowledge the fact that the two of them compete regularly in various sports for key wins; both schools respect each other's long histories of quality teams and success. It is a wonderful, healthy example of two schools who work very hard to develop quality kids and quality academics and quality athletic teams. If a rivalry is defined as having the elements of contempt or hatred...this is not! If is defined as a having a burning desire to perform well and win...this certainly is. Listerman's comments, I assure you, were not deeply held thoughts or implications of disrespect or indifference. He talks a lot! He gyrates and smiles and giggles...a lot. He probably thought it was funny....he has deep roots to both schools and I know he holds HHS in very high esteem. ...and...he understands that HHS plays very good basketball...Good Luck Birds...Let's cheer hard, support all the kids, and enjoy a night that only those of us lucky enough to live Kentucky have the opportunity to experience.
  13. I'm going with Dixie's guards dictating...Kiernan will have his way...but Dixie loses the battle...wins the war by 8....
  14. That's gotta be one of the biggest upsets statewide...isn't it? Never saw Ohio, but saw O Cath...they looked to me to be very, very good.
  15. FYI: There is a very good 11U Northern Kentucky team with two spots still available. They play in the Southwest Ohio League. Positive environment, good parents, teaching, good competition, private message me if interested.
  16. I don't know if this is a stupid question...but...why is he considering leaving?
  17. I get these kids confused....(getting old I guess), but the one kid who jumps out of the place nearly tipped it in to tie it with just before the Dixie kid got a very key rebound which clinched it.....Henderson? was way high....that would have made things interesting....
  18. You must have been looking the other way....he (someone?) most DEFINITELY slammed the ball down while the other jumped and stomped....like I said, I am indifferent...I wanted Holmes to win if I had to choose..but you cannot continue to condone and justify immaturity and punkedness and then blame the refs...
  19. you are correct...thanks
  20. I too am indifferent on this one...but in defense of the refs...they called a very balanced...let em play game overall. When Henderson reacted the first time the ref let it go...then he jumped and stomped again with more body language.while a teammante ? bounced the ball down and let it fly about 10' in the air (which is almost always called a T) ..anyway, Henderson definitely deserved the T...the ref was very cool and you could tell by his hesitation didn't want to call it....
  21. Thought the game was sloppy overall with spots of decent basketball. It was just goofy for quite a spell...easy shots missed...turn over after turn over...it seemed neither team wanted it and both looked tired...credit Dixie for hanging very tough...especially #5..? name...I think he was the difference on both ends of the court for Dixie! His defense was impressive and he handled the ball and scored in key situations...Lawson played overall well, went to sleep with the rest of the crowd for a few, but did a lot of good things. I see Dixie in the finals Saturday night.
  22. I don't fault the idea of getting a raw deal by the refs, but at the risk of sounding like a broken record...Holmes mental toughness used to overcome that kind of stuff...they probably did get a raw deal, but they need to stay focused and play hard...btw, cch got totally dogged vs brossart and I thought they fought through it well....they wouldn't have four weeks ago...opposite directions....that's why I think CCH is our best rep in Lexington
  23. Agrreed. However, Holmes' talent generally dictates their toughness. Against most teams, they can 'athleticize' their way to a positive attitude. Vs the supposed top two right now, they will need mental toughness to dictate...and depending upon how well the supposed 4 thru 8 play, it may not work either.
  24. Hey 3rd...the ninth plays the 3rd at Rupp...looking ahead just for fun...what's your honest opinion...I've heard O Cath will have very little resistance winning the third. I know anything could happen, what do you think?
