CovCath Forfeits Game To Beechwood
I will agree with TOG to this end: Beechwood is much, much better than any of the others I've seen. I'm not agreeing that it was planned, but, since we're having fun...I'll agree that if you're choosing your first round team....IT AIN'T BEECHWOOD...no matter how many times you lost to the others.

CovCath Forfeits Game To Beechwood
Hey Old, fyi, I love Krumps and the CC program; but I gotta say, this was an error on the mgr. No way this was contrived. With that said, I agree that at this point in the situation...it's not the end of the world. Beechwood is the team to beat...whether that's the one and out first game of the district, or the one an out situation in the region...Krumps ain't playin for an appearance in the region. He intends to win it. It was an emotional game, he had every intention of letting Isler close...then made a quick decision with Isler's sudden elbow pain.

Thank you...I don't see Bob making this mistake.

CovCath Forfeits Game To Beechwood
FF, I think he would have had they drawn CCH...that was his point I believe. Anyway, noone is arguing that BW doesn't deserve the forfeit win. We all respect BW...a rule is a rule...CC screwed up. Still...they won this one with key hit after key hit...not with some stud pitcher being abused or overused... BTW, do you know the answer to my previous question re: BW staff this past weekend?

CovCath Forfeits Game To Beechwood
My question....Beechwood just played something like 4, 5 games in 4 days...all big games?...Moore hasn't pitched since Friday? They must be absolutely loaded with pitchers to have that kid not appear in the semi's, finals, or the district game vs HC....I know two wrongs don't make a right...I'm just curious...as far as I'm concerned, if it's the rule then CCH should have known better

CovCath Forfeits Game To Beechwood
Well, a rule is a rule....but if I'm Beechie, I ain't too proud of this one. Basically, Krumps made the mistake of thinking the rule was 72 hours between outings...which would have made him available to throw the 2/3 inning he was used in this one....someone ? pointed out to the umpire today about 3:00 pm that the rule actually states 3 calander days...making Tuesday the third day...

Covcath vs Highlands ??????
Game is cancelled...

CovCath 9 Beechwood 8
I know I"ll miss someone...but...Blazewski, Maile, Larkin, Isler, Schriever, and others...they put up 7 runs in the sixth...all base hits and two 2 walks...I think the bases were loaded for like 5 hitters ? So in my mind...many were clutch...oh yeah...Stein, Popham...

Thank you!

Game cancellations
What is the limit? Do you get extra games for the all a tourney? I think I heard Beechwood's record is like 26 and 4...(wrong thread for this ??)

Correction..i didn't mean back in foul, I meant in the dugout...

CovCath 9 Beechwood 8
The two times I've seen it, the argument was that by touching the catcher in his attempt to block it; it went out of play from the field ie catcher...which is incorrect from what I know...anyway, the bats were neatly leaning against the face of the dugout...as opposed to inside...they were basically inside the area in front of the dugout...the ball probably would have bounced off the face of the dugout wall and either came back in foul territiry, or hit the kids standing in the area right in front of the dugout...it was just a bad break for Beechwood...I don't think the bats were ultimately to blame...I think it was going either in the dugout or into the boys standing there anyway...

CovCath 9 Beechwood 8
As far as the game goes...I just wanted to add that I have not seen Beechwood play until today...they are for real! Usually, when the Colonels get down, they do a lot the damage to themselves. Today, Beechwood absolutely smoked the ball...Houlehan did settle down a little after the first inning, but you could sense that the red team could unload again at any minute. I am proud of the Colonels for not folding the tent, and coming up with clutch hit after clutch hit in the 6th...this was a great win for them; however, knowing Beechwood's recent tough games, they obviously had to keep the starter in longer than the probably would want to...and I think the Tigers had a little let down coming off such great wins this past weekend and yesterday...then taking such a dominant lead early...I hope the Colonels can make a good run at tourney time...but I was impressed with Beechwood...they very well may be the "at large" region champ to add to their awesome state all a....

CovCath 9 Beechwood 8
I don't think there was any doubt about the runners location...this call is mis called more than not...I've seen it wrong twice this year...it was called wrong just this week in a cch jv game...the umpire ruled that by hitting the catcher...it's two bases from the field, the cch kid scored...I was pretty sure it was wrong then; that night it happenend in the Reds' game...they ruled it one base...the right call was called today

33rd and 35th district draws
RB, that's exactly the way it was explained to me at the BW/CC game today...

CovCath 9 Beechwood 8
Not that odd...the ball went "out of play" when it hit the bats...the debate is you get one base from the mound, two from the field. At first, he ruled it was two bases since it came from the catchers attempted block...he finally ruled it correctly, it's one base from the mound.

CCH 9 Apollo 4
Nice win for the Colonels in the LIT...Holian sp? went the distance....very nice outing for him after 10 days off. Colonels started slow, 2 errors, 1 hr down 2-0 before they swing....Tierney had a good night, Blazewski continues to hit...and others....
-
Holy Cross 6 CovCath 4
Krumps does have lots of confidence in him...he's done very well...he just missed his spots yesterday...not a good one for him...
-
Holy Cross 6 CovCath 4
Yes....he has been batting 4th...he's hitting like 430 (second behind Blazewski (460ish)...and gets walked a lot....

CCH 15 Cambell County 5 (F/6)
Farrell 5 innings/ Isler 1 CCH: Woodruff and two others (sorry I didn't hear the names) Cov Cath controlled pretty much throughout after starting down 1-0 after one inning. Not much excitement to add...

Dixie 7 Cov Cath 6, Dixie 6 Cov Cath 5
He's got an unusual 'knot' where he strained/pulled a muscle in leg...the pain comes and goes...they just can't seem to get it to 100%...He was in lots of pain vs Dixie that's why he sat...felt 80% or so for Holmes and the others this week....it's kinda day by day....

CCH Student Section at Rupp
One more compliment...I was talking to the father of a frosh basketballer at CCH...and the dad asked son if he would consider transferring next year to make sure he got to play more...the son told Dad that if only got to spend 3 years in the stands cheering with his classmates that he would consider his basketball career far superior to anything else he could think of....you guys are great! and you do it with a really classy energy that keeps the whole thing in perspective...I am proud of you...(so the answer to dad was NO WAY!

CCH favorite for 9th region in ’06?
I was not predicting the winner in 07, just the favorite in 06...the Bulldogs are not the only kids already working on their games for next year. I know some young Colonels who took a lot from this year's season and dissappointing finale. I believe you will see this group of sophs and frosh grow up quickly and assist CCH in a serious defense of their title...and a better showing in Lexington. and...I am not discounting several other schools who have every possiblity to take this region...I just think that the Dogs, maybe after the initial week or two, will be end up being the team to beat next year. BTW, what's the new kid's name?

CCH favorite for 9th region in ’06?
I agree with Holmes as favorite in the 9th. CCH has some kids coming back and some very good underclassmen; but, they really didn't click without Tierney, and the underclassmen have zero true varsity experience. Holy Cross will be in there, CCH may if they mature quickly...but Holmes is the team to beat...with our without Edmonson...
