I wasnt at the game but I heard that Chas stayed in till the 6th gave up 5 runs without getting an out, and then Bob finally pulled him....WOW.

No, only 1 meeting between all them count. There is a 3 way tie, and it is a blind draw now for seeding.

This year is as open as I've seen, and its anyone to win.

I was at the game. Wow in the first did Houlehan get hit... and hit hard. I believe his ERA coming in was about .5, after the first inning, his era for the game was 35. Granted it was just one inning, just something to show how well Beechwood was hitting.

 

CovCath leaves bases loaded in the first inning without a run. In the 6th they finally got some runs to come across and the Beechwood pitcher walked in the run that made it a 1 run game.

 

Odd call in the 6th when a wild pitch hit the backstop and hit some bats that were lined up for Beechwood and CovCath was allowed an extra base for the equipment being out of the dugout. The call was overturned and the CCH runner reatreated back to third.

Not that odd...the ball went "out of play" when it hit the bats...the debate is you get one base from the mound, two from the field. At first, he ruled it was two bases since it came from the catchers attempted block...he finally ruled it correctly, it's one base from the mound.

The come back Colonels who have now won three games in a row from top notch competition, beat a very good Beechwood team 9-8 after being down 5-0 after the Tigers first at bat.......

 

Star's of the game for the Colonels were their Freshmen who pitched and hit the Colonels to victory. The entire CovCath team did a great job of hitting in the bottom of the sixth to pull out this win....

 

Another great high school game to to watch.....For the three dollars admission, a dollar a coke, and the best burgers in Kentucky, how can you not enjoy yourself, while watching a great high school baseball game. Congrats to both teams for a exciting game today.....

 

The District games, regardless of who draws who, should be some great baseball.....

I think the only question was whether the runners were already on third and second respectively (they were not) when the ball hit those bats. If they were already on third and second, when the ball hit the bats, then they would have been allowed to advance another base. I was very surprised that the home plate umpire didn't tell the Tigers to keep those bats out of the field of play from the beginning of the game.

I don't think there was any doubt about the runners location...this call is mis called more than not...I've seen it wrong twice this year...it was called wrong just this week in a cch jv game...the umpire ruled that by hitting the catcher...it's two bases from the field, the cch kid scored...I was pretty sure it was wrong then; that night it happenend in the Reds' game...they ruled it one base...the right call was called today

As far as the game goes...I just wanted to add that I have not seen Beechwood play until today...they are for real! Usually, when the Colonels get down, they do a lot the damage to themselves. Today, Beechwood absolutely smoked the ball...Houlehan did settle down a little after the first inning, but you could sense that the red team could unload again at any minute. I am proud of the Colonels for not folding the tent, and coming up with clutch hit after clutch hit in the 6th...this was a great win for them; however, knowing Beechwood's recent tough games, they obviously had to keep the starter in longer than the probably would want to...and I think the Tigers had a little let down coming off such great wins this past weekend and yesterday...then taking such a dominant lead early...I hope the Colonels can make a good run at tourney time...but I was impressed with Beechwood...they very well may be the "at large" region champ to add to their awesome state all a....

2short - Interesting that you've seen it wrong a couple of times.

 

The only way it can be 2 bases is if the catcher (or any other defender) would make contact with the ball prior to the ball going out of play.

 

 

Where were these bats today? Were they in front of the Beechwood dugout? I've scoured the rule book and I don't see anything dealing with equipment that's in play.
