Did you play for coach L ?

Are you talking about going into the game...or when you're down a big margin and in the process of getting it handed to you? If it's the former, I would agree with prior posts...there isn't a game you don't plan to, expect to, and go into knowing you can win. The kids follow you're lead; you can tell them the truth...ie here's what we have to do to stop them.... If it's the latter, you ignore the score and teach the lessons of personal integrity, persistance, never quit, etc etc etc....then use that as a barometer of where you need to go.

A sidenote....I ran into a group of NDA players after the game catching a bite to eat and asked them how they did etc; they presented a very positive impression. Just a very classy, mature, and politely confident bunch...and apparently they can play the game!! Kinda seemed like a coach's dream team...good luck ladies!

...One final point, the 1981 and 1982 regional champ teams contained at least 5 football players on each team. The big difference between then and now, however, is that it used to the best athletes who also played football. In other words, those kids were at the armory in the summer in addition to a little lifting; no spring football etc. you can build basketball around footballers from the more skilled spots (ie receiver, backs, qb etc.) HHS seems to get the full time tight ends, linemen, etc while some less physical, more basketball looking kids seem to quit or sit...? Just a thought..

FWIW I think that's where a few of the Wolf's from St X played...good basketball school at that level

I'm pretty sure none of us REALLY know...but the story I got was that IF there was interest in leaving, there are only one or two schools that would be of interest and they are more personally motivated as opposed to "bigger lights" type of moves...? I wish he would put this to rest soon!

Lucky, that is not the case here. These are varsity only players. The environment you describe is typical, this is not that situation. OldGuy...I will trust your optimism. I know they dearly miss the calm and confidence of B, B and B...

CCH is not that good...their offense continues to look like a spastic fire drill imo...they run various disjointed sets then somebody takes a shot you could get if you just came down the court and fired it...Ryle really played a nice first quarter and a half...then CC mixed up their D and Ryle had no clue...they had no idea how to attach the traps, the presses etc. Bovard looked great...X will not be as easy to confuse! It is tough watching all the impulsive substituting...the lack of understanding, spacing and effectiveness on offense for CC...this is not a 'seniors are missing' problem. They have no idea what they need to do or how to do it. CC looks fluid with an athletic five on the floor, then the revolving door starts spinning again and they go back to disorganized chaos...somebody please tell them to keep an athletic group on the floor...use the depth strategically instead of spastically, simply play and spread the floor and move and space without the ball and they are a very difficult matchup for anyone. Ryle had them running the game plan they needed offensively...low scoring, half court, cumbersome, unathletic....CCH's D and athleticism on D was the game changer. They need some "Schrand philosphy" back in their offensive...sooon....!

That's very cool...sounds like we may get to see a lot of good baseball in the coming years.

I certainly hope the class of 06 would not take any offense to that statement, it was not meant that way. Do the younger kids lack experience and succes at the varsity level, yes. As I stated, this is 100% fun forecasting at this point anyway.. But all I'm suggesting is that in terms of raw talent, imo, there is not going to be a drop off. The same could have been said when the grads were sophs. I think the grads would be glad to see their tradition carried forth. If you take that as an insult to the grads, that's a mistake. Saying that some good kids are coming behind you does not imply in any way that your weren't very good...I'm a little suprised that it was taken that way. I sincerely aplogize if that is the case.

I hate to be the downer tonight, but this could be ugly for the Colonels.

I don't see a big margin happening. It's a toss up, CCH is spastic right now. Everyone is planning on the seniors solving this...I hope can really have that kind of an impact? They will certainly make a difference, but the impact is being oversold imo.

No one is lock to win....and, anything said at this point is 100% unproven speculation. But, we can say that the Colonels have every expectation of being the team to beat...now. You may see 8 sophomores start on this squad at some point, and they will be very competitve. There is no drop off of talent in the immediate future. Bles and Pop and the rest of the upperclassmen are going to enjoy their new young friends. I just hope Isler's arm is coming around as reported. Keep an eye on names like Nutini, Holocher, VanSant, Shover, Darner, Sanoila, Maile, Hartmann, Isler, Niehaus, to name a few newcomers.

JC..that's antagonistic; kinda like placing candy in a kid's hand and telling him not to eat it...unnecessary. Anyway, I just wanted to congratulate the coach. Only time I got to see them was at the CC game. They were just as billed: very well coached, efficient, and extremely hard hitting bunch! Wish only the best for the future!

I meam no disrespect for BH, but whomever put this together needs some assistance. I feel bad for a small school traveling up here to be put in that situation. It was not helpful for CC..and certainly not helpful for BH to come up here and be mismatched like that. CC is not really playing too well, they are not playing like a #1 team, they have their work cut out for them in regard to the top programs right now; this was not a productive outing for either school.

The sad part is that this is not, does not need to be 'single player dominated'...there's plenty of players there.

Correct! No excuses at all. What were they trying to run on O? What a disjointed mess.This was the first time the Colonels faced a senior heavy team who plays good defense...they were clueless! This had nothing to do with missing players, refs, or anything else. Congrats Cru, well done.
