CovCath 66 Ryle 35

CovCath 66 Ryle 35

While CovCath has moved on to playing Basketball, the Ryle Raiders are still playing Football. Ugly first couple of minutes by CovCath but senior Kurt Bovard showed why he will be starting sooner than later and righted the Colonels to take a lead at the end of the 1st quarter with CovCath 13 Ryle 12. From then on, it was CovCath in a walk over.

In what was even more of a blow out than the basketball game, the CovCath Crazies completely embarrassed the Ryle student body. Seems the Ryle Raiders couldn't come up with their own cheers, so they tried to mimic the CovCath Crazies after each CovCath cheer. The Crazies were in rare form tonight, putting down the mentally challenged Ryle Raiders student body time after time, so much so, that I it was more fun watching the CovCath Crazies than the game.

If you were in attendance, now you understand why the Crazies are the best in the Commonwealth at what they do.....:dancingpa

Being a Bluebird fan, I hate to admit it, but the CovCath Crazies are so much fun to watch. They are very creative, to say the least. Is CovCath that good or is Ryle that bad, for early in the season?

I haven't seen Ryle play this year, but I think they're that bad.

CCH is tough, but they're not THAT good. Especially not yet.

Ryle is that bad. Until there point guard play improves, they will stay that bad.

CCH is not that good...their offense continues to look like a spastic fire drill imo...they run various disjointed sets then somebody takes a shot you could get if you just came down the court and fired it...Ryle really played a nice first quarter and a half...then CC mixed up their D and Ryle had no clue...they had no idea how to attach the traps, the presses etc. Bovard looked great...X will not be as easy to confuse! It is tough watching all the impulsive substituting...the lack of understanding, spacing and effectiveness on offense for CC...this is not a 'seniors are missing' problem. They have no idea what they need to do or how to do it. CC looks fluid with an athletic five on the floor, then the revolving door starts spinning again and they go back to disorganized chaos...somebody please tell them to keep an athletic group on the floor...use the depth strategically instead of spastically, simply play and spread the floor and move and space without the ball and they are a very difficult matchup for anyone. Ryle had them running the game plan they needed offensively...low scoring, half court, cumbersome, unathletic....CCH's D and athleticism on D was the game changer. They need some "Schrand philosphy" back in their offensive...sooon....!

Do any of the Ryle football players play hoops?

OK, lets talk about what Coach L is doing, or at least what I think he is doing.... Coach L was looking at four seniors playing a lot of Basketball this season, but then the CovCath football team went on a tear, and he lost Bo and Brandon. Now Brandon is not a starter, but when you need a guard stopped you send in Brandon, as he is as good as it gets, as a defender. Bo understands how the game is played, and is as cool and calm in the clutch as you saw if you watched the Colonels play football. Then Billy goes down, and Coach L loses his heart and soul on the floor. So what do you do? You throw out your Sophmores/Junior's to the wolves to learn how to survive. In the long run, having those young men play in all these early and meaningless games will make this CovCath team even better as the season goes on. Yes they look like misfits sometimes, but like tonight it seemed to click especially when Bo a senior came on the floor to guide them. When Billy comes back, then watch the machine come to life.....

OK. So Ryle isn't that good. CovCath is in it for the long run.

Of course there is going to be some sloppy play in a blow out like this. I remember being a freshman/sophomore once. You get to go in during junk time. That is your time to try and prove to coach that I should play over this guy. So yes, your going to have guys throwing up stuff that they probably shouldn't have. My goal when I was a freshman/sophomore (and got in during junk time) was to impress coach and try to get my name into the scorer's box so I could see my name in the paper the next morning.

My guess is that is what you saw a lot of yesterday.

You're right, that is not due to lack of senior leadership; it is also not a new problem at Cov Cath.

Lucky, that is not the case here. These are varsity only players. The environment you describe is typical, this is not that situation.

OldGuy...I will trust your optimism. I know they dearly miss the calm and confidence of B, B and B...

Man you CovCath fans have been spoiled the last couple of years. Your complaining about substitution patterns and lack of spacing on the court in a blow out. The season is young, the ninth region is wide open and it is time for the younger guys to get experience. Coach is going to tell them what he wants out of them and if he doesn't get it the kid should be yanked just to be corrected. Plus you got football players that just now are realizing that a basketball is round and circular and it has to fit through a hoop.

I've been complaining about Coach L's substitution patterns for at least 5 years.

I'm guessing a couple of bloop singles contributed to this win.

Were you complaining when CovCath made it to the Final Four in the state 2 or 3 years ago? If you were then you have problems. Cause that's when CovCath had a big time streak going against the ninth region.
