You might have a point regarding his substitution patters, but I attended a coaches clinic at NKU over the summer and he was a guest speaker and man this guy knows basketball even better then I originally thought he did. He told how he runs his practice and I was very very impressed. Be very grateful to have him as your coach because I firmly believe is by far the best coach in NKY.

Were you complaining when CovCath made it to the Final Four in the state 2 or 3 years ago? If you were then you have problems. Cause that's when CovCath had a big time streak going against the ninth region.

 

Yes. Sometimes I think Listerman almost has too much talent and he doesn't quite know what to do with it, and that's why he subs the way he does. That's really the only answer I can come up with. This team, much like the state semi-final team, has seniors with a lot of varsity experience. They know the system inside & out - hopefully, a little later in the season when everybody is back & in basketball shape he'll let the seniors take over.

Plus you got football players that just now are realizing that a basketball is round and circular and it has to fit through a hoop.

 

You can't blame it on the football players- Brown is out and I will venture to say that no one on CovCath is playing as well as Bovard.

 

Right now, Bo is the only player looking for his teammates on this team. It seems like TJ doesn't trust the other players, and the younger kids are so concerned with their individual playing time that they feel they have to prove themselves. Due to the fact that they played on a JV team that scored almost over 80 points a game last year, they are trying to prove themselves with scoring, when they don't realize that, especially on a team with TJ, role players are the most successful.

 

However, I will say that the defense has been solid. You are actually getting some interior physicality out of Noll, Grimes, and, most suprisingly to me, Schmerge. These past two games Schmerge probably has 4 or 5 blocked shots and 8 rebounds. Looks like he is proving my pre-season assessement wrong. (BTW, I will admit that boxing out has been poor, but that can be blamed on a variety of things that I don't feel like getting into).

 

Last night's game was a bright spot in the youngest season- there were plenty of great things that I have not pointed out. But CCH knows how far they have to go, and we will see where they are tonight if they keep it a game with X or not.

Truthfully I don't know if ColonelCrazy was complaining or not, but I had the opportunity to be around both the last two regional teams at CCH and on both you always herd complaints about Listermans substitution patterns and coaching overal. The correct statement, as usual, about this is "he might have too much talent, so much that he doesn't know what to do with it". But too me thats always a good problem to have. I wish St. Henry could say that.

I would have to think many people would disagree with him being the best coach "by far" in NKY. Look at past threads and you'll see that Faust, Schlarman, and even Henly are usually listed before Listerman.

 

Knowone ever has questioned Listermans knowledge of basketball, that I know of. But he does do quite a few odd things. I'm sure some of the coaching staff would have told you that. But he is a good coach and great person. I've enjoyed having talks with him since I was playing at St. Henry. He just one of those people that would do anything for anybody. He teaches life to the kids before he teaches basketball, and I believe thats most importantMi. I think CCH fans are very grateful to have him, but they get caught up in the moments sometimes and don't realize what they really have.

Question. Every time I saw CCH play they made numerous errors and all Spring I read post from the Old Guy complaining about CCH errors in 2006.

So how do they come up with a .943 fielding average, in the top ten of CCH school history? Hmmmmmmm ? Quess that's why no one outside your school puts any stock in your stats.

I just believe that most of the coaching should be done in practice, where you can stop & correct things. That does not mean that the coaching staff should take it easy during the games, but I think Coach Listerman has a tendency to overcoach, evidenced by his jumping up & down on the sidelines a couple times a game.

 

I've always believed that the practices should be so hard that the games seem like a breeze.

I don't know why you decided to post baseball comments, but if you want to bring up baseball, I'll contribute. It's not enough to route a team by 30 and have some of your fans ridicule the Ryle fans, now you want to bring up a baseball post from last Spring? And if finishing with the fifth best record in Northern Kentucky last season is Owning, then I have some beachfront property in Florida that I am sure you will be intrested in. LOL
