Beechwood didn't look good either game I saw last year, not even with their ace on the mound so I can't picture them as world beaters this year. Pitching and defense win games, and Boone has neither. Top ten might be a little of an over reach now that tou mention it. I will go with 1- Ryle 2-Cov Cath 3-Beechwood 4-Highlands 5-Dixie 6-Conner 7-NCC 8-Boone

Beechwood was "mercy ruled" by Ryle last year 10 -0 and almost again in the Regional tourney 11-4. It will be Ryle and Cov Cath until someone steps up and knocks them off. Boone will not finish in the to 10 this year.

Solution....schedule spring break games in Florida. Those whose families that usually vacation at that time can have their kids room with them and those that would be sitting around up in Northern Kentucky would be playing ball in Florida.

You guys are using 2 left fielders this year? I know Bob does some radical things but I would think he would move Picket to right. Unless he plans on pitching righties inside.

Never was, never will be....Ryle was in the quarters last year and still never made the list at the end of the season.

I like PRP and Tates Creek. Lawrence Co. has the best scoreboard though.

2007 Ryle Raiders - Their best season in the schools young history. 34 & 7 Won the District, won the Region, swept the State Sectional, lost in the state quarter finals. Set all new school records and laid the groundwork for the start of what could be a fantastic baseball program at Ryle.

Ryle returns two veterans, Austin Seabald and Dillon Campbell however, one or both may be in the 4 man pitching rotation. So they could be seasoned or we could be watching some tallented younger players. Won't know until we get to Tates Creek I suppose.

I think that in your case 20 Rock, it's because your schools and kids don't get the write ups in the Northern Kentucky newspapers like kids from the 9th. I don't think their stats are even included in the newspaper "leaders stats" that are put out half way through the season. Michael Ogden was one of the best kept secretes in NKY. I accidently walked up to a summer ball game at Ryle when he was on the mound and was thinking, who is this kid, he is bringing it. Got to see him a few more times when the Kings moved him up to the 18U team half way thru the season. I would encourage your schools to contact the Enquire about including your schools in their stats or at least have seperate stats published for your district or region.

Ryle hit .365 as a team last year, averaging 8.875 runs per game. So I would say that a team that hits .300 would win a bunch of games.

I remember when my son used to throw that type of SWEEPING curve ball, started it at the right handed hitters head and as they bailed out it broke down the middle. Later he threw it more like a cut fastball, less hand turnover, looked like a fastball but cut sharply near the plate. Both are effective, the latter is easier on the arm.

I guess that's what you call his SWEEPING curve ball.

I think it's a spoof Strike...as far as I know, this kid doesn't even play ball.

I know Tim played a few years in the Mets organization, and last year with the Florence Freedom....is he playing for the Freedom again this year?

No doubt that Tim was (and still is) and outstanding Player. But go to the Cov Cath and Ryle web sites and look at some of the stats the 05, 06, 07 kids are putting up. Some have exceeded Tim's stats, except those 21 home runs. I know a kid that only had 2 errors in 41 games in the middle infield last year, so I still say the youngans are competing. Grogan was a diffferent type player though, bigger, stronger with lots of power, yet quick enough to play the infield.

The thread asked for 1 catcher, I picked Farris. Nothing against Maile, he's a heck of a ballplayer.
