Austin Seabald took a 1 run lead into the fifth when the Raiders allowed a couple base runners aboard and an inbetweener allowed a couple runs to score. Cory Rieder came in, in relief and allowed the final run. Good opener against a good team and when the Raiders start to swing the bats, these types of games will go in the win column.

I heard Dixie pitched their best, Matt Nicholes. Didn't think both coaches would go with their aces this early in the season.

Gloveman and Cooperstown are both right. The baseball program at Ryle has grown tremendously over the past 3 years due to its recent success and if you look at the website, only juniors and seniors can try out for varsity now. I believe that Roesel annd Demler want it that way for two reasons. 1- They know they have tallent in all grade levels. 2- They want the frosh and sophs to get a lot of games in and a lot of learning time with Coach Demler, who I think is one of he best "teachers of baseball" in the state. Having said that, should some unforseen event like injury occur in a key position during the season and a soph is a better option then training an outfielder to play middle infield, the Ryle staff would not hesitate to bring a young player up. Thank goodness they are not in a position to have to do that right now and seem to be pretty deep at all positions right now.

I look for Highlands to finish right behind Ryle, CCH and Beechwood.

Finally got to see a few innings of baseball. Ryle was up five or six to two when I left in the fourth. Liked what I saw, Ryle pitchers only gave up one walk, defense looked good, turned a 5-4-3 DP and everyone seemed to hit the ball solid throught the line up. Brossart seemed to have a pretty solid D also and some big sticks. They may supprise some folks.

Can we get Beechwood's schedule? Never mind, we know it will be Calvery Christian twice, Villa Madonnna twice, Heritage Academy, Dayton, Belvue, Holmes, Newport....pretty much like every year.

Let's see....Ryle run ruled Beechwood 10-0 in 5 innings and beat them soundly 11-4 in the region last year. Ryle beat Cov Cath 3 out of 4 games. Ryle beat Regional winning Somerset ( a down state team I believe who knocked out Danville and some other competition ) 13- 2 in 5 innings and 13 -6 to win the sectionals...so I think they accomplished a lot more then any other 9th region team last year....and Pat will coach em up the same way this year. Just please, please, please pitch Elliot when you play Ryle, they like those guys that throw over 80.

Because these are local coaches who know the local tallent. In the State poll that you like to quote, half of those coaches that voted couldn't find Northern Kentucky on a map, much less know who was good and who wasn't.

Slusher has 4 innings in 14 games, Muth only has a handfull of AB's, John Back is the starting SS. They got rid of the tall skinny Beechwood kid and the Paul Bearns kid from Ludlow. I'am thinking 40 something man rooster, maybe more then 2 local kids would be playing, and playing very sparingly on a loosing program.

So you're telling me that no body in Northern Kentucky has seen this kid pitch except for a few innings against 11 & 21 Dixie, and Rice wants him? I have some land in Florida...... ( NKU does not play local kids...check their stats, no local kids play. ) That may be why they are 0 & 8 last time I cheked.
