As we move ever closer to the start of practice for the high schools, I want your thoughts on the top/best pitchers in NKY.

 

The two that come off the top of my head at the moment are Cody Elliot (Beechwood) and Matt Nichols (Dixie). Both of these men can really let the ball fly on the mound and have some good off-speed.

 

A couple others I would name would be Brandon Nutini (CCH) and Zac Adams (Scott). Brandon Nutini won't blow it by you but can spot the ball extremely wall all around the plate and we all know that will translate into a good career. Adams is probably the least known around NKY because of an injury last year and his coach protecting him his soph year. He throws as hard as Nichols and Elliot so hopefully he can stay healthy and show his talents this year.

 

What about schools like Ryle and Highlands?

What are they going to look like pitching wise?

And also other schools....

All good choices, I would say Charlie Lovan will get a few W's for Ryle and they have a couple young arms I plan to watch Echine (sp) Hemmer.

Etscheid had a fabulous year for Ryle JV in 2007 (9-0; 1.53 ERA; 6 BB's in 50+ innings). He, Helmer, and O'Hara carried the JV staff and I would think all 3 will contribute some in 2008, especially Etscheid. With the returning pitchers from last season, Ryle should be pretty deep pitching. No absolute shut-down studs, but a lot of good, solid arms.

 

I'll throw out props to sophomore Andy Roenker from Holy Cross. Throws in low 80's, has a nice curve and change, and throws all three pitches for strikes. You will hear a lot from this young man over the next three years.

Your forgetting about Scott's proven starter Jordan Adkins. He was top 10-15 in all of NKY's major pitching categories posting an 8-2 record with something like 2.15 e.r.a. Nick Hiller will also be good for Scott. He is lefthand who will offset Jordan and Zac.

How deep is Scott's staff? What about Boone? Was able to see Sebald for Ryle pitch in the state game at Applebees, seemed to be hanging in the 86 mph range according to the gun and pitched in a tough situation.

I believe Scotts staff is three deep, and Boone might not have an ace this year, and will have to rely on a high powered offense to get them through this season.

Daniel Hammons from Ludlow should have a nice year.

Agree with your assessment on RYLE, CCH, SCOTT also has a couple of nice arms.....

 

Both RYLE and CCH had very good JV arms last year....that is always nice to have coming up for a program.

 

As for Campbell Co. -- Woodruff is the ACE and should be one of the best pitchers in the 10th and in NKY. Woody had great year last year, wore down a bit toward the end of the season, but is much stronger and ready to assume the role as the leader of the staff since Hurd graduated.....look for Hinkle, Dryer and Coffman to also have very good years for the Camels. Depending on Gray's shoulder CAMELS could have one of the best closer in the 10th as well.

He only threw 8 innings last year for JV. The JV club had some really outstanding pitchers last season and didn't allow for him to get many innings.

Joe Renda, junior at Ryle moved in last year. Played summer ball with the 18-U Royals last summer. Will play with Ky. Kings league team this summer. Hit 82-84 mph consistently at King's tryouts. Threw very well in fall league, also plays a good 3rd base. Hopefully he gets a chance to show what he can do at Ryle.

This is probably a new thread if so my apologies but Renda is with the Ky Kings league team? I heard that they had so many at tryouts they elected to field 2 18U teams is that correct?
