Renda is to play with the 18U Kings this upcoming summer, Coached by Robbie Sumpter. Probably the better of the 2 18u Kings teams. Ryle should give him some innings this spring.

this is probably a new thread if so my apologies but Renda iswith the Ky Kings league team? I heard that they had so many at tryouts they elected to field 2 18U teams is that correct?

That is correct... I believe with the disbanding of The Royals 18U team from last year and the amount of solid juniors and seniors in NKY that want to play summer ball is why they went in that direction. One of the teams will be an all tournament type team and the other will play more games locally plus a select number of tournaments out of town.

Joe Renda, junior at Ryle moved in last year. Played summer ball with the 18-U Royals last summer. Will play with Ky. Kings league team this summer. Hit 82-84 mph consistently at King's tryouts. Threw very well in fall league, also plays a good 3rd base. Hopefully he gets a chance to show what he can do at Ryle.

 

Well he would have had to pick up a lot of velocity from the Spring if he was hitting low-to-mid 80's in the summer and Fall. But for Ryle's sake, that would be great if he has. He's a nice kid.

It is accurate, I held the gun myself. As far as the 2 Kings teams, that is indeed the case, and although we should both have strong teams, I think saying the league team is better is probably a stretch. The tournament team will have a lot more power and deeper pitching, whereas the league team will rely more on fundamentals. A very versatile, sound bunch of kids. There are some strong teams in this area.

Saw Mr. Renda throw a couple of innings up in Indiana last summer, they were playing ahead of the Kings. Didn't look overpowering but he was getting em out. Had a chance to meet his dad, very nice gentleman. Hope Joe gets some innings at Ryle this Spring....I will keep an eye out for him.

I enjoyed watching Neihaus CCH pitch this fall... enough heat, good location, and a nasty change up. Look for Jake Robinson (Senior) of Simon Kenton to impress this year. He pitched very well last summer locking up some real good teams in big tournaments. Nice fastball, real good curve.

I haven't seen him throw yet, but I have heard some good things about his ability. Did see him hit however, good stroke with some pop.

Does Simon Kenton have any other pitchers besides Brown & Robinson? We faced a kid named Greis in fall league who was coming off an injury who looked real good. Also, does anyone know of any "sleepers" that will surprise this season?
