Best Pitchers in NKY

Not sure why you think it would be a bad sign .He made several appearances last year and competed well most of the time .All pitchers have bad days .If you can have a freshman eat innings and keep all the other arms fresh for other games I see it as a plus.

I know you well enough to say you know what I mean .:thumb:

It wasn't a shot at Bertke at all. From what I saw, he looked solid last year especially given he was an 8th grader. But BHS does indeed appear to be deep at pitching this year, including some kids (beyond Elliott) who have the potential to be outstanding. My point, perhaps poorly stated, is that much is being expected (and touted) from these other pitchers and that if Bertke ends up throwing a lot of innings, it could be a sign that some of these other pitchers did not come through as expected.

They are just straight up studs. I heard they were all going D1. Is that accurate?

D1?!? Not a one of them is on track to play D1. IMHO, of course. ;)

Holocher doesn't have the arm to play in D1 baseball. Its average at best at the high school level which doesn't translate very well into college especially at D1

He also doesn't have to glove or bat to play D1...

He has a great glove I don't agree with that opinion.

He is also to slow, cant cover enough ground to be a D1 shortstop. I dont know if he will even play D2.

I was told he led the team in Errors last season. Correct me if I'm wrong.

As a sophomore. Someone has to lead the team and you can't expect much more from a Sophomore shortstop. He worked a lot in the summer and played for one of the top teams in the country at 18u. He didn't make that team by making errors.

Please, who was this team?

Please, who was this team?

He was on the KY Colonels but played very little. Shouldn't this thread get back to pitching?

Thornsburg 6'2"???? Wow he must have shot up about 3 inches in the last week since i saw him at practice. Its amazing how fast kids grow these days.

OK, Maybe 6'1-1/2", If he is not that I will buy your lunch. I agree about Ribinson. They are looking for him to be the leader on the mound. SK will have the leadership of 11 seniors on this team. They should be a favorite to win the 8th.

I've seen Bertke pitch a couple of times, don't be surprised if he has improved enough to pass a couple of the others up. A lot of other teams would like to have this kid pitch in their varsity rotation this year.:thumb:

I have not seen anywhere where it says that Bertke will be a dominant force for Beechwood. The article in the paper quoted coach Myerhoff saying that he was just one of several young pitchers that gained some valuable Varsity experience last year, and that experience will make them that much better this year.

Here is the quote from the paper.

Elliott will lead a young staff Myerhoff expects to perform very well with a year's experience under its belt.

"Our younger pitchers are all a year older and they should be that much better because of it," Myerhoff said. "Jake Smith and Nathan Snyder are both juniors and they pitched a lot for us last year as sophomores. Josh Bertke pitched a lot for us as an eighth-grader. He should do very well as a freshman this year with that experience. They've grown up that extra year, and they should help us a lot on the mound."
