How does Towles look on the mound at Highlands? With the Jim Bunning bloodlines you would think he would have some talent. He looks like he has grown to about 6'3 or so and isnt he a lefty? Velocity?

 

I was told by a guy who was at Champions that he was there last Sunday and was hitting between 86 and 88 mph. The guy said that for February and throwing in gym shoes that was pretty good. He's gotten into a very serious conditioning program and has gained 15 pounds.

He's a junior and I'm sure he plays summer ball, but have no idea with who. I have to admit I was surprised when I was told this. I knew he threw hard, but I didn't know he was at that clip. Kids from the smaller schools have a tendency to get passed over in the recognition department.

Do you mean kids like Farris, Nichols, Brake, Roenker, and Towles?

Not taking anything away from them, they are great baseball players and deserve all the acknowledgments they get.

I think that in your case 20 Rock, it's because your schools and kids don't get the write ups in the Northern Kentucky newspapers like kids from the 9th.

 

I don't think their stats are even included in the newspaper "leaders stats" that are put out half way through the season. Michael Ogden was one of the best kept secretes in NKY. I accidently walked up to a summer ball game at Ryle when he was on the mound and was thinking, who is this kid, he is bringing it. Got to see him a few more times when the Kings moved him up to the 18U team half way thru the season. I would encourage your schools to contact the Enquire about including your schools in their stats or at least have seperate stats published for your district or region.

I had the pleasure of watching some of these boys play this fall, some real nice talent... In the case of Ogden, Brown, and Allen they are starting to get the recognition and by trying out and making the Kentucky Kings summer team they will get even more recognition. Most importantly, all great kids too!

I agree with what is being said about Elliott and Nichols throwing consistently in the 80's however I don't believe Adams is throwing consistently in the 80's especially coming off arm problems from 07. He is capable of doing this maybe down the road if his arm is fully healed which I don't believe it is. Nichols and Elliott by far are the cream of the crop this year in NKY. Adkins of Scott probably has the best off speed stuff of any pitcher in NKY and he will be Scott's #1 at the start of the season. Adams, Hiller and Murray will round out Scott's rotation of starters this year.

Best I can tell, he went from 5'10" as a frosh to 6'4" as a soph (don't know current stats as a junior). The big ol' wagon is here, the Chuck is coming.

I heard Brian "The God" Romes might come out for the baseball team at Beechwood..... I heard he was a straight stud for the Kentucky Kids back in the day. He throws in the high 80's low 90's and has a 12 to 6 curve.
