My son ran a consistent 7.1 at 14. Thru the years and at various sites such as Champions Baseball, UK, Moorehead, Western Ky and NKU he progressed to a 6.5 / 60. I was always told that most D1's looked at .7 as a good speed.

KHSAA has set 2-15 as the official first practice where coachs can be hands on. Most kids work out year round and play February thru November.

You"re failure to comment on CCH fans statements like "joke of a program" when you squeek out a win shows your bias as well.

My point is going to pro ball from HS ball is a greater jump then skipping HS ball and playing college ball as an 8th grader. Let the kid develope. I know a lot of kids that hit the heck out of the first round MLB pitchers this summer but those pitchers will not look the same with a couple years of development. In my humble opinion, there is not a major league caliper player in the 9th and there has not been for quite some time. Not slambing anyone, Boone is not a rival to Ryle in baseball, I think they won one of the twelve in last 3 years, so there is no reason to have hard feelings toward Boone. Chris Curley was probably the closest to pro claiper that I've seen. He could pitch and hit for power, but I think his decission to play everyday at a smaller school is a great one. He may be ready for the bigs in a year or so.

No, It's a serious question. There should be no problem since he already has a residence in the Highalands district, but what does the KHSAA have to say about changing schools?

I think we are getting way ahead of ourselves. I think Cory will get some playing time at UK as a freshmen, but not much. Maybe by his junior year he can crack the starting lineup and establish enough consistancy to be looked at. It's a step at a time guys, not a huge leap.

Show me a coach that concentrates wholy on pitching and sacrafices hitting, bunting fielding and the little things of the game within the game and I will show you a coach that finishes at the bottom, due to errors and no run support for those pitchers.

As I mentioned above, pitching is a factor, but at that level it's just one of many factors. Having coached in the Cincinnati AABC league for over 20 years, evaluating tallent like judging an infielders range, the "clock in the head" therory for decission making, outfiders angles to the ball, baserunning, blocking fastballs vrs a spinning curveball, hitting zones and hitting counts, pitching location and breaking balls ect, there is so much a 14 year old needs to understand to be a successful 16 year old player

The biggest difference between Varsity and JV baseball is the gane is a step quicker. Hitters get down the line quicker so infielders have to have stronger arms. Stolen bases are a second or two quicker so your battery has to be a step quicker on both ends. Pitching on average is mid 80's vrs high 70's so hitters have to have a little quicker bat. However, most of the kids that I know at Ryle, and most high schools for that matter, have seen and have adjusted to that speed difference in summer and fall ball. Should be a fun year......GO RAIDERS

I agree, Matt and Cody have proven themselves, everybody else will be working to do the same. I know HC has a pretty good soph that threw pretty well last year as a freshman. Austin Seabold and Dylan Campbell got some time on the mound for Ryle last year and have a shot at a successful season. Towells from Highlands, Nutini and Isler from CCH as well. Should be fun to see who steps up to the challange.

My point is NCC's main problem last year was lack of pitching last year. So who can we expect to step up this year. You will see a lot of hitters when you face Ryle, CCH and Beechwood so you will need a few stoppers.

It's going to take more then one player to compete in the 9th. Heck, you have to win 7 post season games just to get to the state level. I suppose Wrobleski is a pitcher? He may get 2, maybe 3 post season starts if NCC makes it that far, so again, who is going to help them get there?

Because he is good. Seriously, he has great break away speed, took one back about 90 yards against SK last week and he is a running QB who is used to taking hits. It's a gamble that coach decided to take a couple of weeks ago.
