It looks as if it will be very similar to last year. Beechwood, Cov Cath, and Ryle will be the favorites. Look for Dixie to possibly make some noise.

I think I would put the top 4 in this order.

1-Ryle -lost a ton of tallent but so has Cov Cath and Beechwood wasn't that strong last year. Raiders will have a tallented defense, four pitchers with varsity experiencs and a couple good JV pitchers. So D and pitching will not be an issue. If they hit thru the lineup like they did last year, they return to Applebee's.

3-Cov Cath- lost their entire infield, except their ss and their entire outfield and most of their pitching. Can't reload like Ryle will.

Ryle replaces just about everyone, but they will have a good middle infield in Letherbee and O'hara, Renda or Reider at third, a strong catcher in Chandler who caught about half the varsity games last year.

 

As for pitching they return Campbell, Seabold, Lovan and Reider who have several varsity games under their belt and Renda and Etcheid. Each of these kids can win five or six games with great coaching getting them into the right spots. If they concentrate most of their effotrs on hitting the Raiders will repeat. I think the Murray twins and the Helmer kid will contribute as well.

cshs81 you forgot to mention Darner who IMO was most probably the second best clutch hitter on the team last year and Holochler who improved quite a bit over the summer. When you consider what the above players did playing varsity baseball as sophomores, against seniors laden teams like Ryle, personally, I just can't wait until the start of the baseball season now that these young Colonels are a year older and a year wiser and after a year of playing summer ball.....

 

BTW Isler, Holocher, Maile, Darner and Nutini all had outstanding summer seasons playing against some of the top college bound players in the country. Nutini who had an outstanding summer pitching, amazed a lot of college scouts especially when told he was only a junior to be. Maile had so many pro/college scouts thinking this kid just couldn't be a junior to be, that they kept asking if the program was really correct.

Please, please, please don't tell me that playing a JV schedule as a sophomore/junior is as tough as playing a Varsity schedule as a sophomore! BTW, how many of those young sophomores from Ryle played on a U18 team and did as well as the young CovCath players did against some of the best college bound teams in the country?
