I said Boone will have one of the best line-ups in the ninth. Show me where i said there pitching would be great. IMO the region comes down to the battle of Fort Wright, They have to most proven talent in the 9th.

 

I'm with you Mix. Boone will have a solid lineup that will be able to put up some runs. However, the only way they have a shot at postseason is averaging around 12 runs a game. Could see some really high scoring games in the box scores for the rebels next year.

Anybody that averages 12 runs a game will win it, no doubt. Don't think Boone was anywhere near 12 runs per game though last year, and they lose a big bat in Korman.

Heck, they gave up almost 7 last year, (6.77). Not all earned though.

Me too, that's why I pick Ryle to repeat. As for PT, many Ryle juniors played down the streach. As a matter of fact, Braylen Chandler and Dylan Campbell played at Applebee's last year and Austin Seabold pitched there as well.

 

So that's 3 Ryle players that played at Applebee's last year vrs. zero from CCH or Beechwood. So at least we agree that experience helps.

 

3 players that played at Applebees means zero. CCH had 3 or 4 kids play at Applebees when THEY WON STATE in 2002, including the starting pitcher in the championship game who shut down Trinity. The following year they were shut out in the 1st round of regionals, and that same pitcher got rocked.

 

CCH wins region in 08' and 09'.

Some of us might be overlooking Highlands and as I recall, they return quite a few players.

I like their coach, talked to him a few times and he feels he can generate some interest in the baseball program. The year he had last year will certainly help.

How is Highlands pitching? Do they have anybody other than Towles that can win a big game?

That will be their challange. Last year they pitched Towles, Allen and Rawlings most of the time and only Towles remains. Got a big stick in Muench however.

In fact Dixie has a lot of talent moving up as well. A lot of the DHS talent has been moving up through select baseball. I have seen the Birds talent move up through a very good knothole team. Should be interesting in the next few years as we watch the wave of select team players (starting from kids that are now soph's on up) begin to fill the high school rosters.

That's the key right there. Good solid competitive baseball around the freshmen level, fifty or so summer games and good coaching of baseball fundamentals.
