It could help them in the playoffs when N.KY comes calling with a "CLASS A" team that looks like they could play a "3 A" schedule. Sorry again, my bad.

Oh, I don't know. Why does the Univ. of Texas schedule games with "N. Texas". A team that they beat 65-0 two years ago, and who were a total of 2-9 last year? Maybe, to help N. Texas' program? I think that a game with Raceland and/or Fairview could help THEIR program out. Plus it would be a definite 'big' gate for those 2 teams

Not bad. You could also get a game from Wheelersburg (we play them in Fresh. and JV already) and a good friend of mine who played for Fairview said they would love the chance to play Russell. Raceland would be really cool as well. I've heard they feel they are going to have some really good teams for the next few years.

If it means decreasing district sizes, then as a Russell Fan, then I'm for it. We are currently in a 8-team district which severly limits our non-conf schedule. We have our traditional 3 non-conf games in (Ashland, Boyd and Greenup, which are now 5a,4a,4a), but it could give us a chance to occasionally schedule a game with some other schools around us. And for those who like the district now, with the alignment the only school that won't move up with Russell would be West Carter. As for the playoffs, we still have Mercer, Henry Co, Belfry with us, but there would be no rematch with Newport and Owensboro Cath, since they go to 2a. It will be curious to hear what the coaching staffs feelings are about the new classes.

I agree Devil58. It's way too early to make predictions. Some kids have been out wrapping up baseball season, family vacations etc. so the full roster hasn't been there yet. Coach McGlone doesn't seem to be the kind of guy who is going to hand a starting position to someone who looks good in May/June, but who shows himself in May, June , July etc. Nothing looks to be set in stone (except for Clark at RB of course), but I believe Russell Fans are in for another great season

Also sounds like what many teams on Russell's schedule found out this past year. You had to shut down the Russell "team" not (a/the) Russell player(s). Although Jr. Casey Clark was the MVP at the state final and an important part of this years team, there were many games during the season where many different players stepped up big time (i.e. Brown, Horn, Jones, Potter et. al). I'll bet none of those seniors would trade a "championship ring" for a roster spot on the "all-star" team.

Ace, you are absolutely correct. I was teaching school at Rose Hill during that time and that is exactly why he left. The 8th grade enrollment was full with kids waiting to get in. He did not want to mess up his AAU status, so he left, right before the All 'A' Tourny.

Wow what a week personally. Got to see the Russell f'ball boys get their championship rings last night, and listened to the 16th region champion and state runner-up Rose Hill Royal girls give Lex. Christian all they wanted tonight.

Your so right. with less than 2 minutes to go it was still a single-digit game. A couple of foul shots and a run-out set the final margin. I am so proud of these girls. 4 games in 3 days with only 6 players playing significant minutes. Wow. You have so much to be proud. Have a safe trip home.
